I am presently using it, I do not like the way it hides a lot of items I use and now must seek out but I never liked complications, life itself is enough.
Dear John,
What you can propose better then that, is your proposal secure better then Microsoft?

I am slowly transfering to Linux and win2k will not be replaced by either Vista or Xp. The licencing restrictions for Vista are to tight to be practicable to a power user like myself and as a person who is constantly upgrading a two install maximun makes Vista unafordable. Google has now realesed the excallant opera Browser which out preforms IE6 in ever respect that matters. So although I would probaly have vinstalled and used IE7 if it was portable to win2k fact is it is not so I will never get to suffer it delights.
I hate it that 20% of the websites I try to visit with IE 7 will not load. I'm all for security but this is ridiculous. I'm not trying to be a MS snob. I have been using Firefox for over a year now and it is soooo easy. I rarely have a problem loading pages with it. I should be able to just load IE 7 and surf, but it is far too frustrating. One other thing, I always worry that MS is spying on me. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I bet I'm not the only one who thinks that.
In My Humble Opinion (IMHO) I think Avant is better than both IE and Firefox. Avant is faster than both at loading websites. Avant also also displays things much better. Not just webpages in general, but also RSS feeds and your list of favorites. In IE7 and Firefox 2 I used to have to keep scrolling down and down to get to a favorite website now my favorites are listed in columns so I can see them easily. And they searsh dialog box Firefox has in the upper right hand corner is something I don't like at all. I like to start searching from the left and read the results on the right. If anybody knows of any extensions that makes Firefox do these things let me know otherwise I'll be sticking with Avant (version 10 build 52).
Avant Browser...think outside the Fox!
I have been using IE7 starting with the BETA version. I have had no problems with using it so far. Even my wife who is hard to convence changes need to be made loves IE7.
I like the tabs which are similiar to Netscape but some of the websites I go to, especially work, requires IE only and will not work wih other browsers.
The biggest plus is the ability to click on print this page and not have it cut off the right side.
I'll upgrade to IE7 when/if necessary. The only reason I can see to have any version of IE is for updates. Firefox is just SO much better. Having IE is like carrying cash because EZPass doesn't work at some toll booths.
I really haven't made up my mind.
Since I got a new computer with XP and added PC-cillin,
in place of my old faithful Win.98SE, I have spent more
time trying to rectify all the security glitches I've
experienced in the 3 months I have had it.
I know all the Security measures have been lnstalled
for my protection, but their driving me loco, and I'm
not as well versed as a lot of you younger folks wno
grew up with computers. I'm at a point where I'm afraid
to add anything and fearful of clicking on any options
left to my selection. I'm 79yrs old and although I have
the time to indulge, I do not have the patience.
I don't like the new MS internet explorer. At least on my computer it is unstable. I have a lot of difficulty downloading pictures and files. I keep reverting to version 6, but as of today I have started using Opera. No problems yet.
I downloaded IE7 and installed it with much difficulty. My other computer can't even get past the EULA screen. Now that it is force-fed to Windows users, my computer is playing stupid by trying to install it without success. So, overall, no I don't like IE7 (better luck next time Microsoft!).
And I have seen many improvements come along, most of which were sorely needed. First, tabbed browsing. It's been in Firefox and other competing browsers for a long time, and was well implemented in IE7. Second, Anti-phishing tools have been in other browsers, but with IE7, these tools will hit the mainstream, but, as always, the scammers will find workarounds.
Finally, I feel every browser should have a "safe mode" and IE7 does this very well, even though it's hidden in the system tools of the Start menu.
Overall, I am quite happy using both Firefox and IE7 on my custom-built desktop machine, as the browser war has come down to a matter of personal preference.
I installed IE7 and I noticed that it constantly hangs, which is very annoying.
I switched to Opera once I got tired of the useless bulkiness of IE6. I'm planning to stick with Opera for the rest of my life if they continue designing such brilliantlly powerful yet lean browsers. IE7, to me just seemed to be a graphical overhaul of Opera 9 (released before IE 7). I don't see any benefits of using IE7, except some pages aren't able to load on Opera, and I HAVE to use IE/Firefox.
One feature I certainly did like though is the ability to disable certain toolbars - I have a rather irritating Morpheus toolbar and just when I was planning to get rid of it ruthlessly, this came along and solved my problem in 30 seconds.
Why? After discovering Firfox during the after-math of IE's massive crash with hackers, I don't need to go back. Just 'cause IE has finally evolved to the level of tabulated browsing doesn't mean it's better. FF just makes more sense with it's features; give you what you need with out taking up with features you'll never use.
