Actually, that's why God made tweakers.
I just can't get used to the URL box being placed above the tabs! I just doesn't feel right. I would like it down below, as if it were part of the tab's content. It seems it's not moveable anymore either ![]()
I do hope someone will tell us that the URL box (what I call the 'address bar') can be made smaller.
Space on my screen is precious to me and I have no need whatsoever to expose the entire URL. I'm used to shrinking the address bar down to the bare minimum so that I can copy it, if I need to, or make use of the drop-down list...things like that.
Why do I need to look at this long URL which is of no practical use to me as I work???
IS THERE A WAY TO WORK WITH THIS...to make the box smaller???
At the same time, I love the easy ZOOM feature and the "full screen" possibility...which sort of compensates for the URL box.
Firefox puts the tabs below that box as well...
Practically any toolbar can be customized. (Not the Favorites center or the Nav buttons) but you can remove commands from the existing Tool area.
I don't use Print or Read Mail - so those are gone, I know F11 gives me full screen I don't need an icon. You can show all text, selective or icons only. Selective was useful as I got used to the new layout. You can also customize other toolbars, like Developer or Links. The Developer toolbar rocks! A major improvement on the Firefox's which doesn't allow me to choose what program I want to View Source with (maybe there some weird extension to do it. But I haven't looked - so don't tell me if there is one. Why would I want to futz around to get what always played nice with IE?)
I think they separated them because the refresh and stop buttons tend to not get used as much as the others. I can't remember the last time I used the stop button. With my internet connection, I usually can't get my mouse there in time to push it. The same goes for the refresh button. The onlly time I need that function is when I am bidding for something on ebay. Even then I just use the "refresh this page" button that ebay provides.
They should have left the navigaition buttons the way the were in previous versions of the browser.
i also wondered what they were thinking seperating the navigation controls. i shouldn't need to spend the first 2 minutes of using a browser just trying to find refresh !
I thought we were all using mouse gestures ala Opera instead of forward and back buttons. Much more convenient.
Me!
I also use them all the time...would not know what
to do without them..
My question is...can you turn off or do away with the silly tabs / tabbed browsing tabs
Have not found if you can...
Hal
I don't use back/forward buttons unless I need to backtrack several pages. If I'm just going b/f one page then I just use my mouse. IE7 does not allow me to use my mouse button to go b/f. Anyone else with same problem?
Obviously, Each program has their menus organized differently. Sometimes when a program is updated, it's menus, for whatever reason, gets reorganized.
I've experienced this phenomenon before.
I agree about the navigation controls....of course I can get used to them, but, as you said, why did they bother...in other words, if it isn't broken, don't fix it.
As of right now, the only thing that irks me is that I cannot move the toolbar with the Home button on it. I would love to drag it back to the left side of the screen like I could in IE6. All I want to do is move it underneath the Menu Bar- but no dice...
