I DID FINE WITH THE BETA VERSION OF IE 7. WHEN I DOWNLOADED THE FINISHED PRODUCT IT WOULDNT REC MY EMAIL {INCREDIMAIL} SO I WENT BACK TO THE BETA ND IT WORKED FINE. HOWEVER, THE MOZELLA IS FASTER AND HAS MOR ADJUSTMENTS. I PERFER MOZELLA FIREFOX FOR GENERAL USE....CB GLOVER
I have been the computer world since the mid sixties. Resultantly since the mid seventies I have had a PC on my desk connected via modem to whole host of service providers. In all that time I have yet to succumb to a virus attack, in part because I avoid awkward beasts such as Internet Explorer. In my opinion the person who solely subscribes to the Microsoft way is a person waiting to have their system taken down.
i realy like internet explorer 7 but there are a few things unexpected wrong with it like when you install mcafee suite & then try to update the software even after you have activated the activex it wont let you update the software, simple little things this that, microsoft has not actually thought about other software which is on the market which will be involved in everyday pc,s
IE-7 has wrongly flagged some copies of Windows XP as pirated software. This new software cannot be uninstalled if you don't like using it. Some beta versions even damaged some computers beyond repair; so a fresh install of windows is necessary.
Microsoft used to distribute a simple program which blocked the downloading of service pack 2. Their software which blocks IE-7 downloads reminds me of amateurish crackware. It doesn't even know what folders to install into and then you must hack the windows registry to finish the job...
He says, many older applications and certifications work anymore with the higher Explorer.
You have the choice between waiting of the upgrade of the other software or to wait with installation of IE 7.
I downloaded IE 7 and all appeared to go well until the next time I rebooted - I found that I couldn't put attachments on my e-mail, download attachments or utilize the self-diagnostic on ATT Yahoo (and couldn't fix things 'cause I couldnt download IE6, for example, to replace IE7). Firefox continued to work fine, but big brother mikeyrosoft won't permit their downloads on it.
Spent some time with e-mails back and forth to ATT Yahoo; they were (as always) very helpful but I couldn't follow their advice as I was unable to open "Internet Options" on the control panel either. They finally said that the problem was mikeyrosoft, that they hadn't yet worked with IE7 and I had to contact the mothership for aid.
I had sent the automatic error reports to big mike and was getting ready to go through the pain of contacting their tech support (the problem is not us, the problem is always you, did you first thoroughly clean your motherboard with a toothbrush? etc etc) when I suddnely got a "downloads ready to install" message - I clicked the balloon and IE7 installation began again - first cleaning out the old and then re-installing. Now everything appears to work. Go figure!
The most critical thing about Internet Explorer is that as a user you are opening a back door for Microsoft giving virtually complete access to your system.
Having worked with one of the world's largest IT companies, where a good deal of deengeering was done, there was one significant discovery made that makes IE a threat to every user and company, and that is, that M/s have a back door entry to any computer (or Server) that is using IE and is connected in some way to the Internet even via an Intranet.
In consequence any data confidential or otherwise is readily accessable via this secret back door, not least to any of the M/s suite of programs, due to there complete intergation with IE, anywhere in the world. Industrial espionage has no equal.
For that reason I never use IE other than where it is operational and the only resource or for testing or in programs where it has been embodied. And then I ensure, that that there is no access via an intranet to any other computer at that time, unless it is completely unavoidable, such as within other company or corporate networks.
I also never allow any use of IE within my companies or organisation.
My laptop download wasn't permitted, because Microsoft says that I have a pirated version of Windows.
My desktop download wasn't permitted either, because I haven't installed Service Pack 2.
I haven't seen anything here that tells me I'm missing much!
I can't download it eithier due to my operating system is ME/2000.
Don't worry, if Microsoft fail to shove IE7 down your throat (It's coming as an automatic update VERY SOON) I wouldn't cry. You're better off, not worse off.
You see, me use Windows 2000, so me can completely disable Microshaft Automatic update and Windows 2000 is not even compatible with IE7 so there you go! No IE7 for me. Just Firefox and Opera. (and anything else non-microsoft related for that matter)
Internet Explorer 7 is a welcome upgrade, but the UI is a little odd. The menus are on the right side, and it took me a while to figure out where everything was. I loved it when I first got a beta release, but once I tried Firefox I never went back. Also, the phishing filter for some websites wasn't on, and it said that it was unavailable. Plus, the RSS reader was a little hard to use. I have IE7 even though I use Firefox, for the upgraded security (my parent's computer crashed because of IE6). Overall, though, I don't think that IE7 can stand up to Firefox 2.
I would have thought these guys would have learned a few things and applied themselves to make IE7 something well worth while. Unfortunately this thing is about as unpleasant as a skunk --it stinks! I left it on for 2 weeks and then they a couple of days ago removed it (which they don't make readily easy) and reinstalled IE 6! Initially it seemed a bit faster, then it just got sloooooow! What's up withe the refresh and back and forward buttons? My yahoo mail anc meseengar didn't like it either! If they were trying to copy the benefits of "other" browsers, they fell way way way short!
Hi. I was just wondering how to remove IE7? I much prefer IE6 and would love to go back to it. I tried a system restore but my system said it can't. I have XP.
Thanks alot!!
Gina
sucks!!!!
FireFox all the way or Opera
Is there anything better?
For some reason it took 45 min. to download on cable hook up. Then problems occurred and ended up downloading new IE 7 the 3rd time. Now it will not allow AOL to download its newest software and has taken over security functions I had already downloaded.
