Hey guys im planing to buy a new mp3 player in the end of november. But I dont know what to get a ipod or creative zen vision:m, I heard there both good but can you guys help me on makeing my decison
And I love it. But I can't really tell you which one to buy since I don't know much about the Creative Zen Vision:M.
Ipod: It feels great in the hand, has an easy to use interface and integrates almost seamlessly with iTunes. I say almost seamlessly because some people have been having problems with the iTunes 7. You will need iTunes 7 if you're going for 5.5G. I haven't had any major issues with it, except it takes twice as long to update my ipod 5G as iTunes 6. (Oh yeah, iTunes 7 is a processor hog) It is easily scratchable, so buying a case is a must. But you can find plenty of accessories made specifically for iPod. There is no FM tuner, but you can buy an accessory that adds it. If you're purchasing music online, you're pretty much stuck with iTunes. For some people, iTunes is a deal-breaker. For me, I have fully committed to iTunes. I am a 4 ipod owner and have purchased hundreds of songs and a few videos from the iTunes Store. I just really like the content and the ease of buying that content.
The Vision:M looks good and comes in several colors. And it has an FM tuner and other things the iPod doesn't. You have a larger choice for purchasing music online.
If you can, try to get yourself to a store that has both and see, hear, and feel for yourself. Or if you can't find one that has both go to 2 stores. I really wouldn't spend that much money on anything that I couldn't at least touch first.
You could download iTunes 7 to see if you like it and compare it to others.(I also have WMP 10 and Real Player) If you don't like it, that may push you toward the Creative.
I have a few friends that own a Video Ipod and they absolutely love them. The reason I chose the Creative Zen Vision M is because I use a Subscription Music Service. I find it a lot easier to use a music service then trying to pay, download, or obtain illegaly all the music I want. The only advantage the Ipod has over the Creative is its looks (the creative looks great but I would the Ipod does look a little better). If you don't mind using ITunes and don't want to use a music service then I would go with an Ipod. People that knock on music services like Yahoo Music, Rhapsody, and Urge have obviously never used them. I have used all 3 plus ITunes and there is no comparison. You can have over 2000 songs on your player in a week with no problem. I just look at the $15 a month like any other montly bill such as cable. If you stop paying your cable bill then you have no tv, if you stop paying your music bill, then no music.
Just wanted to Reiterate this post.
Yahoo Music + Creative = KnockOut Combination over
Ipod + Itunes.
I'm currently selling my IPOD (U2 30gb black and red Special Edition (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=007&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=170046879918&rd=1&rd=1)) on Ebay. Partially cause i'm low on funds right now, and partially to be able to use the Yahoo Music Service again (IPOD was an impulse buy, and didn't realize I couldn't use the Yahoo Music Service with it).
Anyone that has used both Yahoo Music and Itunes can
definetedly appreciate the small monthly subscription fee of Yahoo where you can download full albums in one click from millions of artist compared to IPod which only works with ITunes and you have to purchase each individual song. 6$/month for 6 songs on IPod or potentially 6000+ songs on Yahoo. Math's easy. Anyways, I'm selling my IPod as you can see above primarily for this reason (although, I must admit it is nice to look at, and the menu's/navigation is great...However, I bought it to listen to music, and not pay an arm and a leg (.99c/song) to do that.)
Well, just think..the GB Vision M: is thicker then the 80 GB iPod. I have a 30 GB iPod and I love it. It works seamlessy with iTunes. I guess the only question would be, do you use subscription music, of can you use iTunes?
I am an owner of a Zen vision M and would recommend it over the Ipod. I am not a hater of the Ipod and actually was saving up for it before I found out about the ZVM. The ZVM has an amazing screen and clarity especially when watching movies. It also has added little features like an Fm radio, backround screen option, calender, organizer, etc. Where the player fails is the design. Now I'm not saying its a bad looking player, the blue lights are quite mesmerizing, but side by side it is much thicker and just isn't as sleek. Beside looks its sturdy and holds up quite well. Now if you want something higher than 30GB or 60GB then go for the 80GB ipod. Back to the video, its just amazing, on a screen of its size its comfortable t0 watch a full movie. Also side by side to my friends ipod the video quality is extremely noticeable . Also the sound quality is much clearer to that of an ipod due to the fact the sound transmits at a higher frequency. I'd only recommend the ipod if video is of no interest to you, and you like to use itunes because its so easy.
I originally picked up the Vision:M over the ipod because of the superior screen, but now, based on the fact I rarely use the screen for anything but navigation, I think I'd op for the ipod because of the size factor. The Zune is also worth considering, which I wrote about here: http://www.guidetomp3players.com
there are many pros and cons of both players
1.ipod is thin and creative is thick
2.ipod has billions of accessories that you can find anywhere and creative still in searching
3.ipod is popular once people see you using it, it wow to them and creative not that popular.
but if going to look at the features of creative is more usable than ipod(no offense to ipod users.)
1. creative has a radio and recorder, ipod need an accessory and recorder I dont know if they have it.
2. downloading music is not a hassle, ipod needs itunes format to download music
3. creative has more format supported than ipod
4. creative can be used as a removable disk, unlike ipod
5. and many other features, just check it on the website www.creative.com
hope I answered your question
ps no offense to ipod lovers ok...
that the creative zvm is plagued by many of the same issues as previous creative mp3 players (or so i'm told). i have 2 older creative players that freeze and have to be rebooted at the most inopportune times (the reboot button needs a pin in order to press it). also, creative support is terrible so if you do have an issue with a zvm (should you choose to buy it) then good luck with them.
if you want subscription content, then go for the zvm. if you want an easier interface and itunes compatibility, get the ipod.
ps:
personally, i'm abandoning creative. i've pre-ordered the zune from eb games and am really pumped to get it. the zune will have subscription music capabilities as well, but is only compatible with the zune store and non-drmed mp3s... much like the ipod is only compatible with the itunes store and non-drmed mp3s.
