Why use your pc when you can...

The easy way is (my opinion only), go to any electronic retailer & get yourself a DVD Recorder/Player & connect your camcorder's audio/video out jacks to the audio/video in jacks on the DVD recorder & convert the whole thing to DVD. Much easier than converting through a pc & the end results are always exellent. I've converted many personal analog video tapes from VHS/8mm/DAT to DVD & I've never had any problems with the recorded DVD's & they will play on any DVD player. Most DVD Recorders nowadays are not that expensive & they always do an exellent job. The one I use cost me under $130.00. Regards: dejc...

8mm To DVD

by Motordaddyjs - 10/28/06 12:15 PM In reply to: 6/30/06 Helpful advice for converting camcorder video to DVD by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I inherited several old familly 8mm tapes that I want to convert to DVD and distribute them among the rest of my familly. I purchased A Dell E510 with windows xp and additionally at extra cost Nero 7 bundle. So do I have the right stuff and what do I need to play the 8mm tapes and hook up to my pc to convert them to DVD. I was told that I needed to purchase a digital 8 camara with firewire?

I have a HP machine that allows for the transfer of Video to DVD (also through accident I found out it can also record the TV signal). If you have a tape, once you hook it up, it is pretty simple to use. I noticed someone posted that the hardest part is finding the right hardware / software. This is true - the easiest part is the transfer, and once you do it, it is pretty simple. I found trial and error was the easiest way to learn.

If you want to transfer to DVD and don't want to pay for the hardware, get in touch with me. I can trasnfer a VHS tape to DVD for around $10 plus postage. Nope I don't do this for a living - more for the tapes I had and for a couple of guys I work with.

Keep in touch.

Paul
