Buying Laptop - Media Center Edition or not

by dbglass - 10/27/06 2:23 PM

I am about to buy a new laptop. One of the features I'd like to use it for is to watch and record TV (I don't have cable). Most company's offer an external TV Tuner, but I've also looked at the Pinnacle PCTV HD Pro Stick. (http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/PCTV+Tuners/PCTV+Analog_Digital+PVR/PCTV+HD+Pro+Stick.htm)
The PCTV HD Pro Stick seems to require a MCE Upgrade kit to use with MCE.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what equipment I should get to watch TV on my PC (the less equipment the better).

Thanks.

You should buy this OS. It's a Windows XP Pro with additional add-ons and the Media Center interface. I use it very often.

For the PCTV HD Pro stick, I don't know. I never studied in TV Tuner really. I can't recommend you something ...
