Trend Micro

by mrobinson52 - 10/23/06 2:31 AM In reply to: the best of internet security by damom111

I have been using the Trend Micro Suite, and am very very happy with it. It has a ligher footprint than Norton or McAfee, and it updates a few times a day, as opposed to a couple of times a week. It also rates well in independant comparison tests, and outranks Norton and McAfee.

Trend Micro, V-Com

by ozgunsinan - 10/23/06 11:49 PM In reply to: Trend Micro by mrobinson52

As a system suite, I've been using V-Com which includes, well check it out at V-Com.com. It uses Trend Micro definitions for it's anti-virus software. As an all in one application, it's probable the best with regards to return on its footprint.

Internet Security Suites

by FYNGAZ - 10/23/06 2:57 AM In reply to: the best of internet security by damom111

Hi Stacey,
Yes you have come to the best ''right place'' for a 99.9% good answer to your question.
I have tried the over advertised, in your face security suites, including your current brand. But why pay for bloated, resource hogging programs such as those ones, when there are two 'FREE' awesome suites that are just as efficient, if not better, and come very highly recommended by all who have chosen to use them. My personal first choice is 'Avast' which takes care of my PC security better than any of the ones I paid for. My second choice would be AVG, which my treasured other half uses, we do this because she has used AVG forever, and it's nice to watch and compare the performances of both of these supreme and well designed suites. If you feel that paying a fee provides even more security, both 'Avast' and 'AVG' have ''Pro'' versions, that leave all those other in your face outfits performing like the dinosaurs that they have become.

anti-virus

by acouture13 - 10/23/06 3:48 AM In reply to: the best of internet security by damom111

in the last year or so I have had very good luck with Microsoft" Windows Defender" and also Microsoft "Windows Live Onecare".You might want to consider these two downloads from Microsoft.

anti - virus

this is a subject with many pros and cons. Norton and McAfee bloat your system and minimize your bank account. I have used both and will never again, even if they gave their systems away. I use AVG Free Edition and will recommend it to anyone. I've used it for over a year trouble-free. Good hunting

Norton SystemWorks 2006

by dduncan76 - 10/23/06 6:19 AM In reply to: anti - virus by ranman54

Hello, For several years I told everybody I knew to use NOrton everything, and avoid McAffe like the plague. I have been lucky, and have not got into trouble with NOrton, but like others I have read about here, I too can not get any response from them. I use Lavasoft Firewall (Free Version), Microsoft Defender, Lavasoft AdAware SE Plus, and Spybot Search and Destroy, as far as I know I am clean. I had to turn off NOrton email scan out, because nothing would send, and Microsoft Live One Care, is very dangerous.

Has anybody ever tried CA Internet Security Suite from TigerDirect.com? You pay $70.00 upfront, and then get your money back through two mail in rebates. It looks like a good deal, and they say major corporations use it religiously with out any problems. I comes with all kind of tools, but I do not ever see it talked about here or anywhere. I sure would appreciate it if anybody can tell me about their service.

I like the way NOrton Systemworks helps me clean up everyday when I am through, but I will not be putting anymore money into protection from NOrton, when the Tech Dept. will not answer me. I am also dumping AdAware SE Plus, it does no more than the free AdAware SE.

I need total Internet Protection and Firewall, and I also need something to take the place of NOrton for clean up purposes everyday. Please, if anyone can tell me what will work great for clean up, Please tell me.
Thanks,
Danny Duncan

Try CCleaner. You can get it at download.com and it is free. It does a very good job safely.

Cleaning up

by clakowicz - 10/28/06 9:39 PM In reply to: Norton SystemWorks 2006 by dduncan76

What is it you are attempting to clean up everyday?

Knowing that will help get you headed in the right direction and farther away from Symantec

NSW 2006

by ash_cool - 11/12/06 3:46 AM In reply to: Norton SystemWorks 2006 by dduncan76

Well tech support of Norton has defenitely improved with both email and chat support. As I have found out Norton SystemWorks is far superior to any other programs. Shortly NSW 2007 should be released there should be new features in NSW 2007.

My favorite is AVG.....

by Maggie6243 - 10/23/06 6:13 AM In reply to: don't forget the obiviuos by dipzdoo

I've used the big names...Norton.McAfee, and will never use either again. My favorites are AVG and Avast. I've switched between the two for a couple of years now and finally settled for AVG. I recently bought the Pro version. I don't really know why I bought it. I think because they deserve to be paid for a really good AV....Maggie
