I have the same Problem. Both earphone wire are out.
The Soundwise G3 is a similar earphone to the Sony DMR-EX71 but is a whole lot better. It sounds better. Its built better and it has symetrical cable. If that was not enough it costs less!
They only seem to sell direct and are in the UK?

Would be interested to hear of other small quality brands. I am a bit of an earphone junky
Love them, great fit (all other plugs fall out my ears). Sounds fine, though fit was my main driver. Like the compact size of in ear plugs vs. other choices. would love to get the new compact bose, but not likely to carry very often since, in this case, size does matter!
And Loving Them! One note though, since they are in-ear headphones they amplify every noise you make. If you bump the headphone wires you hear it. If you cough it's amplified. It's like sticking your fingers in your ears and talking or singing. I've gotten used to it after about a week of use, but otherwise they sound great.
I use the Sony MDR-V150 headphones. Best 20 bucks I ever spent.
And, I'm ashamed to admit, but I also use Apple's crappy stock headphones. sigh.
i use the Bose Triport headphones. the silver ones. they are expensive at $150 but they've gone down in price and the sound is amazing. they are big though but worth it.
I have a really bad record of breaking headphones. Most common fault is defect in the wire at the plug. Symptom is you loose one channel and wiggling the cord at the plug gets the channel back (temporarily). I am very rough on the cords probably because I have this habit of stuffing my flash MP3 player in the front pocket of my jeans. That way it does not fall out while I am riding my bike and is protected from the rain.
The problem is not usually not repairable so I don't like to spend too much on headphones. At the same time I want
- Reasonably good sound
- Over the ear clips. I have yet to find an earbud that is comfortable for extended periods.
- Not too much blocking of ambient sound. I wear them when cycling and exercising. Don't want to use over (cover) the ear phones. Tried them, but, they tend to block out too much noise and get in the way.
Anyway, just purchased the Sony's. So far so good.
If anyone has other recommendations for rugged phones I am interested.
currently using the Etymotic ER-6i and I love 'em. I put those babies in and it completely drowns out office chatter, street noise, even metro noise which is really impressive and gives great sound quality to boot.
they are tight...
They are designed for the PSP, which doesn't mean much to me. I got them cause they were on sale (10 bucks shipped) and Logitech is a good name I trust. Helped that they were black and would match my Mobiblu Cube, and the Sansa E280 I am planning on getting soon.
Sound quality is vastly better than the buds that came with, and bass is very nice. I listen mostly to dance and electronic music, so its a big deal to me. They are also comfortable, getting several hours of wear at a time. Only downside is that they seem quiet, if that makes sense. Not as loud as other headphones at the same volume setting.
All in all, realy nice budget headphones I think though, and they look good to, unlike trendy white ear buds ![]()
They rock on airplanes, and they have that "wave radio" sound that I love at home.
I just got a set last week and I'm loving them. They are 'in ear' like the shures, but not quite as expensive. (still $100 though..) The sound isolation is amazing - you can't hear outside noise, and the people around you can't hear your cymbals.. mmmTSmmmTSmmmTSmmmTS.. ![]()
Yes, they are pretty...I like all the different color options. But they are also cheap (find them for around $35-40 online) and offer good sound quality and a comfortable/secure fit. Make sure you like BASS though. ![]()
Am in India, can't find really these pairs, I got Sennheiser CX300 from Bangkok, they are the best in-ear canal available here, and they sound sweet for jazz, hip hop bass sounds bigger than any other pairs available here. I tried out lotta Sony headphones which are good on Bass, really, but they always lack detail mids and trebles. Got Griffin Earthumps, really comfortable but sounds hollow and lack detail in all ranges....
They great, but open sound really uncovers the reality that they are NOT for traveling as you still hear everything even with NoiseGard active :S
