Hello,
I did have an iRiver MP3 player IHP-140 with 40G and I really enjoyed it for few years. Suddenly out of the blue sky died on me. So I am thinking to get myself another MP3 player. Recently I tried Wolverine MP3 player with 120G, but it was a little bulky, so I did send it back.
I am thinking to get me the new Apple ipod 80G. I just wanted it for music and I want the 80G so it can hold all my music. I admit I am falling under the marketing of the ipod. Any store I go in there are tons of accessories for it, and that is really nice.
I would like to ask your kind opinion if you have any experience with ipod, are you happy with ipod, and if you have a second choice would you go for ipod again and why? Please do not hesitate to share any thought or ideas you have on this subject. I am going to get it either for my birthday or an x-mass gift at the end of November 2006.
Please provide your feedback and your thought.
Thank you so much for shring.
Mo:-)
Hello
I have had a nano Ipod(2 GB) for near 9 months,I am really happy with it, I intented to buy another Ipod(a Big one this time) soon, because of :
1-Ease to use
2-Great sound quality
3-Long battries life
4-Many accessories
5-Many utilities
Let me tell you that, you can't just copy music on it and listen to that music(unlike some mp3 player), You have got to use it's own program(Itune).
Although it is easy to use, but be aware that, if you wanna get music from your friends and he/she dosen't have itune, you can't listen to that music befor using Itune first.
You can copy those files and use your ipod as a storag device but it won't play them for you.
If you wanna buy FM transmiter you should be carfull, different models are appropriate for different cars.
Thanks Arash,
Could you please explian what do you mean by "If you wanna buy FM transmiter you should be carfull, different models are appropriate for different cars."
I don't enter into any discussion to defend what I have. But it works well enough and easy enough. I often wonder why all the digs on each other's choices.
That 80G sounds as if someone might consider it for "storage" for their music collection. That's something I would never consider.

Gripes:
1. I bought an ipod about a year ago. It did not work with my PC. Apple couldn't resolve the issue. Because it did work with an Apple they determined the device was not deffective and refused to waive the 15% restocking fee to return the items.
2. If you buy music off the online store you effectively can't get it onto another computer without first burning it onto a CD and then ripping it to MP3. For people with a laptop and a desktop this is a real pain.
3. ITunes is full of bugs and runs extremely slow. So many other MP3 players simply show up as an external drive you can drop files onto.
4. Apple retains the right to all the music you download and can end the ITunes service if they want to. While these seems highly unlikely I prefer to actually have ownership of the things I buy.
If you already have an Apple and Ipod is likely a good way to go. If not, save yourself the headaches. The only reason to buy one of these devices is if your caught up in the slick styling and marketing...
I think you are in the small minority of not having your iPod work with your computer. My mini works flawlessly on mine and iTunes is a pretty good program for the most part. I don't buy music online so I can't say how easy it is to transfer purchased songs between computers, but putting mp3s on an iPod really is easy.
The only other mp3 player that I am considering getting in the next few months to replace my mini is a Creative Zen:M since it has the FM tuner built-in. My 4GB mini is just running out of space so I have to get a bigger one.
Should not spoil the whole bunch!
1. I own a PC and had the iPod 3G, Mini, Nano, and now the iPod 5G sync to my PC throughout the years. Never had such problems you are claiming on the PC side. Sounds like you got an iPod that was formatted for a Mac for some reason.
2. Blame the RIAA for tight restrictions. Apple allows you to share you purchase songs with 3 computers. I have a laptop and a desktop. No need to burn tracks, just copy songs over to your iPod (storage) and connect the iPod to the second PC where you simply drag to iTunes. Or send it to the second PC over a network.
3. iTunes 7 is on the buggy side but most was fixed with iTunes 7.01. I have thousands of songs on my PC, I much rather have iTunes manage my songs/albums than having to do it myself.
4. No different than any other music store service. I prefer ownership also, which is why 90% of my music is from my personal collections (CDs). Besides I think many of the other PlaysForSure service stand a better chance now of shutting down shop than does iTunes.
Once you download a track from the iTunes Music Store, that track belongs to you.
You paid for it.
You own it.
It is NOT on subscription.
Apple cannot take it away.

Read the contract you have to agree to with Apple...

go to www.google.com and type in "ipod complaints" it's shocking how terrible they are and how uncaring apple is about these issues.

Today you can make the case against any product this way.
But let me share that after fixing a few machines that "my iPod doesn't work" I found some recurring themes. Most were home builts with missing motherboard driver packages. All had some Microsoft operating system and the owners were not aware how to fix it.

Well I never fell under the marketing when I got my first iPod (3G), before all the hype. Got it mainly for its simplicity, the cool scroll wheel (which still can't be beat today IMO), oh and most important music. When the 3G battery started to slowly go, instead of replacing the battery, I opted for a 5G and couldn't be happier. The trusted 3G was shipped out to Iraq, and word is its still playing along 3 years later.
That's not to say the iPod is perfect, but the pros for outweigh the cons.
Pros: Clickwheel, simple to use, works and syncs great with iTunes, over 3 mil. songs on iTunes at fingertips, TV shows/videos, movies, audible, free podcast, thousand more Accessories.
Cons: Scratch easily, Wish batter was 50 hours like Sony's, iTunes 7 a little buggy, slower than previous.
theres a reason ipods hold the mp3 market beacuse they ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! get one
Died in a year... "take care of it better" is what they said. Now what should i do with all these accessories.. I bought it!! why dont you think i'll take care of it!?
