I can't download the latest episode (10/6) from iTunes either. It teases me in my iTunes 7 downloading queue, then never comes. (Pun intended.) Frustrating.
Yes, for the past couple days I have been unable to download BOL on iTunes. Last night I tried to download the mp3 directly from this site but still had problems (as in 13 hours to download at .6kbs). All my other podcasts seem to download OK except for CNET Daily News and Buzz Out Loud. I'm thinking it's something to do with CNET.
Using Juice, Amarok and through NewGator. Very inconsistant, though. It's as if the source is swamped because it keeps trying to download, but can't seem to make the connection. But then the next day it works fine. I don't think its at my end because other podcasts (netcasts) seem to work fine. It has been about 2 or 3 weeks since I've first noticed this.
Was wondering if this might be an edge server / routing type of problem? If so, geographic location would tend to be close. The ISP may also be a common factor, but, not necessarily.
I am not seeing the problem, e.g. I reliably download at >400KB/sec from CNet. I am in Ontario using Sympatico DSL.
Interested in polling people who are having problems. Successful downloaders not needed unless it contradicts locale of failures.
I'll start...Central Virginia, Earthlink dial-up access (no other options). My problems started early last week.
C'mon gang...although I'm new to the board I have been listening to BOL for about a year! Help!
Steve
Also from Virginia-unable to download any CNET podcasts starting this week (10/9)-HELP!!
I'm in Charlottesville, and I have not had any problems getting any C|Net podcast at all, from work (high speed), and at home (cable modem).

Isaac
hell, i'd be happy if i could go over 40 down here.
So I couldn't download today's Podcast (10/10/06) from iTunes or the website. Decided to put Ethereal in the mix to sniff packets while I let iTunes connect. What I saw moving between my machine and CNET included TCP ACK lost segments, HTTP resets, and TCP retransmits. I'm betting my pennies it is a firewall issue of some kind at CNET's end. And for what it is worth - yes - all my other podcasts are downloading just fine.
Anyone else want to sniff and see if you see similar results?
I can't download the following podcasts from iTunes nor directly from their respective "vanity" websites:
BOL
MP3 Insider
Gadgettes
The Real Deal
Now I'm going to be a day behind on BOL! It's ironic that today's (10/10/06) BOL is titled "Who's a moron now"? The answer is me, for wasting 1/2 hour trying download my daily fix.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
Regards,
AJ The Coastie
It doesn't matter if I use iTunes, the Cnet.com website, or some other RSS aggregator, I CANNOT GET ANY OF THEM TO DOWNLOAD. This seems to be a problem with CNET servers, not iTunes or my web browser.
I have never had a proble downloading any of the podcast until now. I usually liten to a few at a time so I was listening to last weeks this Tuesday. I noticed that last Friday Veronica had said that she was going to start putting the cast out in 128 stereo. Guess what, I can't get any podcast since then. Hummm. I haven't made any changes on my end so I wonder if the new format at Cnet may be the offender? Keep up the good work crew ![]()
Ok, maybe I was a bit fast on the draw. I went back into I-tunes and had no problems getting the pod casts. I did have to try, try and re-try before I finally broke the secret code...Persistence. May the Cnet crew just wants to weed out the wanna-be's, an old FBI trick. I wanted the pod cast and I got it. Now I can go to sleep. Good luck to everyone else still trying.
Ethereal is great free(OS, GPL) software.
