Well I got my wife a nano 4 gig. I asked the sales person if there was apoint in waiting for any new tech down the line. I was told no new nanos were arriving shortly. 2 days after my purchase the 8gigs came out. Apple claims price protection, but refused to refund the difference.
The nano looks nice but the supersensitive dial often changes settings when just picking it up and moving it.
Battery failed after 2 weeks. Apple refused to fix it saying that the belkin port I plug it into was the culprit.
I purchased a replacement from Sandisk Sansa e260. same size flash drive. Half the price. More straightforward less sensitive dial and controls. A battery I can replace.
Best of all, there is an integrated minisd port that I plug in a $69 2 gig card.
In total the sandisk cost less, has more features including a fm tuner. I called pretending the item screen had died. Under the 2 yr warranty, they offered to exchange immediately with a deposit or no deposit if I rma mine first.
Not as cool as the nano, but at least I don't have to get screwed out of fake price protections and BS warranties. The E260 has already outlived the nano which is completely dead in its original box.
