It's all relative. Too broad a question. You might do some homework. You'll get a gazillian answers here, all based on fact, supposition, personal experience, fables, wrong, and just plain crazy.
On a personal note, I prefer SXRD rear projection.
i don't even call it a judgement call. the plasma is just plain better, clearer, and crisper. i have both in my house. the lcd is better than any rear projection set you can buy but not as good a good plasma. buy plasma and, unless you play professional sports, but it from costco.
I do agree Plasma puts out the best picture, But Those dots are horrible I will take d.l.p. anytime ha ha stewee
Yes their was a time when plasma was better than LCD, but newest LCD panels right now are right on nor better than 10,000 plasmas. sony XBR3 LCD and the Sharp D62 are to examples of it. but.....
I dont think either are better than the other. Both display really great pictures, it depends on the eye of the beholder and price.
Plamsa
1. Plasma display a great soft realistic picture. No dout plasma create a great picture, and the blacks are really nice. Larger size 52" and up are way cheaper than LCD just as long as the plasma is 1080i of course.
.... The downside any plasma that is 1080p is just rediculiously expensive, im talking 10,000 for 52". Another issue is the picture quality is dictated by how much light/angle is in the room. On a plasma the darker the room the better. Day time TV watching will take away from the experience. In a well lighted area/room it can really take away from the picture quality becuase of glare. Also if your a serious gammer be really careful you dont get hit with that dreaded burn in issue.
2. Another issue about plasma is once it goes , you cannot repair it.
LCD
1. Displays a very clear and clean picture. Much sharper looking picture than Plamsa not as soft. Lighting/angle will not effect this picture what so ever. Day or night your picture will always pop. Also colors tend to pop on some LCD better than plamsa but people have complained that blacks arnt as good on LCD compared to Plamsa. New models of LCD have really fixed such issues such as Sony XBR3 lcd and the sharp d62 creates a really super picture. LCD have absoultly no glare. Usally a LCD wont go out on you. You might get a dead/stuck pixel from time to time but its nothing that cant be fixed. its better than the whole picture going out like a plasma would at some point and time.
...................Downside Getting a LCD larger than 46" is expensive. Creating a softer picture takes alot more tweaking of settings.
i thinh it depend in which company make the TV and which country where it make.some country they make the things very bad.
By the way, thanh you to: coryphaeus, misterguy, Psych Doc, Breslin, Dan filice and Mastering01. i just got the best TV that i ever have.the: Panasonic 42" Plasma HDTV Model: TH-42PX60U. Thanks!it was made in Canada.

Many times people here help someone looking for advice and then we never hear from that person again.

I've been told by 'professionals' and also read on a lot of forums and help programs that for TV's up to 32" an LCD is okay but larger than 32" then you really have to have a Plasma
