Web Calendar

by chipperjatl - 4/13/04 6:30 PM

Hi I am building a website, and was wondering what the best way to put a calendar on it so that it can be easily updated by sombody that does not have very much web design experience. I would also like it to look the highest quality possible, because many of the calendars I have seen have not looked to well. Thanks alot.

The best way to put a calendar on your website, would be using php, perl or cgi. There are many free calendars here: http://www.hotscripts.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?bool=AND&query=calendar&catid=all - just pick the kind of calendar you need/want.

The big question you need to ask is whether you're willing to pay for the calendar. Most of the nice-looking, full-featured calendars cost a few bucks at least, but if you want other people to add events, it's probably the way to go.

OR, you could use the calendars that are built into the free bulletin board systems like the Fully Modded version of phpbb Bulletin Board. This adds a bunch of installation and configuration tasks, but once it's in, you can let users register and post events on their own.

phpbb Fully Modded is at http://www.phpbbfm.net, but keep in mind installing it, while not difficult, is involved and takes time.

A good source of Perl calendar scripts (again, with most of the nice ones costing $) is at:

This one is free and looks ok.
