I was just listing to todays podcast, good as usual.
Anyway, yes TMV, there is a Christmas, Er, Uh, yes you can change/stop the startup sound. You can change most Windows sounds.
In XP:
Start>>All Programs>>Control Panel>>Sounds and Audio devices>>Sounds.
Only thing is, XP only has one sound scheme. Remember 'Robotz' or 'Utopia' from Windows 9x?
Does anyone else besides me find some of the sounds, startup for example just plain annoying?
It was Vista that they decided to let people mute the sound on.
The standard sound for XP is annoying, but most of the old themes from 98 and such were as well. All very high pitch, almost designed for those old on board speakers it seemed.
I replaced it with the mac Bong
Don't know if it was for you, but Microsoft has added an option to turn off the startup sound on Vista RC2 on onwards I hope.
thanks,
