Readyhosting.com is one of CNET's recommended web hosts. Their customer mailserver went down Friday 11/11/05 and is still down. The latest post on their ''Network Status'' now implies that it will be down until at least Monday. They have not given an complete answer regarding the cause. Virus?? Hack?? Security issue?? Since they are closed all weekend, there isn't even anyone available at Customer Service to find out. How hard is it to slap together a replacement Linux mailserver??!! This is completely unacceptable!!
OK, I've waited (im)patiently for the weekend to end, and STILL no ReadyHosting. I've logged into my mail, OR...have I? No mail appears to be 'there', cannot log in via ControlPanel4. The homepage of ReadyHosting doesn't provide any info. Should I grab my Red Phone or. . . . ?
Interesting to note that my site counter is increasing! <hmmmmmmm> Bobi
I've called them twice a day, every day since Friday. Their response is always the same: "We're working on the problem. It will be resolved in 12 hours. We're sorry about your frustration."
That's been a moving 12-hour window since Friday. As of 9:00 this morning, they've been down for 96 hours. Sign on to the network status page and it still says the ETA is 12 hours.
They claim to have a majority of their clients back up but every company I know hosted with them is still down.
There are thousands of companys that host websites and email. It's not rocket science. A company like this can only differentiate themselves with the quality of their customer service.
The imcompetence of their technical support, the arrogance of their customer services and their disrespect for their client's needs show just how far off the mark ReadyHosting is.
Sorry, 'E', I disagree
All systems are "Go" !
(If you called twice a day on Sat/Sun, you just listened to the recording, right?!) <G>
My site never went down,(search Wandering Puffin) during this 4-day period! My mail disappeared, and I'll reallllly miss all that spammmm! The 'reject' error message that was automatically generated let my friends/family know that they should try later, or use our alternate addy or ...gosh..call us!
I didn't file a TroubleTicket until this am, and within a couple of hours, and an exchange of three emails, my site email was restored, and fully functioning, along with the promise of backup of ALL mail servers from this point forward. <happy dance>
FWIW, I've phoned Tech Support from Mexico, where we spent six months last year, and TS was GR8 ! Totalllly helpful; talked me through much set up and frequently went way beyond 'normal', even including weekend emails to figure out a new config or problem! I have NOTHING but praise for ReadyHosting.com

Sorry Bobi...but Readyhosting.com was obviously caught off guard by whatever happened. An interruption in mail service is always possible. However, when it takes more than one day to resolve, it is unacceptable! Do you know how cheap Linux boxes are now?? And they are a web-farm, so they should have extras anyway. There is no excuse for not having a back-up mail system in place within a day. And, going into a weekend with such an outage, they should have had Customer Service available to answer the phone calls from their customers.
...but it sure was devastating for me. This is unacceptable and their customer support basically told me to go jump off a cliff when I calmly explained that some people run businesses, and it is unacceptable to lose mail on the businesses that host their sites with readyhosting. Interesting that they were able to restore your email--they told me there was no way to restore mine. Then again the tech on the phone sounded like he had better things to do than solve my problems, like pick the lint from between his toes.
Yeah, sure, they may back up their email servers from now on--that's something they should have been doing for YEARS. The mere fact that they don't realize this indicates what a pisspoor webhost they are. Future email backups don't help me now. Readyhosting can kiss off--I've had enough.
Our email was Down for 4 Full Days!
Not only that but they Lost all of out stored emails and all of the mail settings.
These guys are real **********.
They have far too many network outages and they are not even close to there 99.9 percent uptime "gaurantee". A month ago I signed up a new account with problemfreehosting.com and so far I like those people so I am going to move all my accounts to them. Good luck everyone.
How could you have moved over if they do not even offer any services? The site has like 10 broken links and looks like crap. My 10 year old could have made a better website. Do not even get me started on the design site. Are you the one trying to start the company problemfreehosting.com? It looks that way to me. When you provide real service then I would post your bull
You could have at least contacted me because I am one of the webmasters and stated what you did not like about the site or what you though was wrong. To put it in this forum without contacting anyone is rude and you should be restricted from posting again.
And when you called them they must have answered right away. Ya I am moving all my accounts over as soon as they anser the phone. Save your lies
