Filseclab Personal Firewall Professional

by bly47 - 9/21/06 12:52 PM

Its a great firewall, but for some strange reason it would accept any Windows Updating. Its states that it is to allow all Microsoft signatures. I use Windows Xp Home. If anyone is using the firewall and is able to get Windows Update working with it, please advise on how to correct. I really like the firewall and would like to keep using it.

Thanks

Filseclab

I have recently installed and uninstall this personnel firewall.

It will not stealth all ports at least four remain closed but not stealthed.

It therefore will not pass leak test.

The support team advised an update to download but it did not work,

Then then said the would investigate this problem in further releases.

I like the interface and other features but cannot justify it's use if it cannot stealth all ports.

This does not answer your question but have you tried testing with shields up and what were your results.

Filseclab

Thanks phil66 for responding. I'm not sure I know what you mean about "testing with their shields up". If you mean does it block any access from programs trying to access my pc or programs trying to access the internet from my pc, the answer is yes.

I seem to have no trouble in allowing or denying access to all that I want to except Windows Update.

Have emailed their support but no response as of yet.

Unfortunately I have deleted it from my system until it can be resolved.

I really don't trust Windows firewall.

Thanks

Shields Up

Is a program from Gibson Research that tell you if your ports are open closed or shelthed from attacks.

You can find it at this URL and read and run it from there if you so desire.

https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2

There are several others but this seems to be the best.

Would appreciate a reply if you decide to run it so I can compare to my results. I also like this firewall.

Shields Up

by bly47 - 9/23/06 3:35 PM In reply to: Shields Up by phil66

Thanks Ray for the information on Shields Up. I will from now use it to test firewalls until I find the one that I will use. Unfortunately,I won't be testing Filseclab until I hear from their support group. Still no reply to the problem. Its to bad the support is poor, I think it could be one hell of a free firewall.

Thanks Again

Darrell

I got a reply within 48 hours from the support group.

As a matter of fact I sent two messages and got replies from both.

Don't understand why you are not getting any.

Good luck

Ray
