Newby Dad. please help

by hoffer1 - 11/24/05 7:47 AM

Going to get the kids MP3 players for X-mas. How much are typical downloads per song?

depends on what you use

iTunes will charge you a dollar per song. While subscription services, such as Napster, Rhapsody, or YahooMusic will charge you maybe $5 a month, and you can download as many songs as you want.

personally, i wouldn't use itunes because when you buy the songs, they can only be played on ipods.

Sansa's design

If you are looking at the Sansa's then you should consider rhapsody-to-go and napster-to-go services. Both are easy to use and you would be able to take advantage of the subscribtion based service support on the players. Also realize that the sansa's are designed for easy integration with Media Player 10.

iTunes

uh, that's not quite accurate about iTunes, they charge you 99 cents per song and about 10 bucks for a cd. After you download from iTunes store, you can use iTunes to convert the AAC files into mp3 files to play on pretty much anything, or burn cds with it. It's a good service to use if you don't mind spending the money for quality service, but if you plan on getting Sandisks, you mite as well go with rhapsody. BTW, yahoo sucks bc they only let you listen to the songs you want for 5 bucks, but it costs 79 cents to download, and they have exactly half the selection of iTunes.

what you're saying is decode the bought AAC song? you realize that they are all DRM AAC, and stripping them of DRM is illegal, right?

but like that other guy says, www.AllofMp3.com is great.
