Which audio system to get?

My boyfriend just bought a new tv. I am pretty sure its a Panasonic 50" Plasma HDTV (TH-50PX60U). His birthday is coming up and I wanted to suprise him with some speakers. I have about $550 to spend. I would like to get some surround sound speaker audio system for him. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Lauren
