need a new partition in my computer

However, that wipes all the stuff on your drive.
I am not sure I would trust free-ware to do something that puts your data at risk.
I have used Partition Magic for years, and while it does cost a few bucks, it works flawlessly. My systems usually have two HD, plus two external drives which I partition and repartition regularly without a problem
For a one off job you may want to check out this site:

They are offering a free trial of Parition Magic..I am not sure if it actually completes the process, or simply allows you to check out the interface. (BTW they still show PowerQuest as the publisher--fact is, Norton purchased this product from them some time back.)

You can use another XP machine to partition your HD, but again will loose all your data.
The time to partition is BEFORE you install XP.
Since this isn't the case you have 3 choices
1 - back-up all your data & wipe your HD & partition & reinstall XP & all your apps & data
2 - Drop a few bucks on Partition Magic
3 - Google up some free program & cross your fingers!
PM isn't all that expensive now is it??

I like the suggestion someone made about adding a 2nd hard drive (I always have two, plus a couple of externals), but I still think you need PM (or something) if you like partitioning.
