I'm a student, and I want to replace my desktop pc with a laptop. Please help me! I don't know much about computers, but I do know that I spend A LOT of time on the net, listening to music, and using Word. I'm mp3 crazy, and store digi photos and other crap like mad, so it'd be nice to have a good amount of hard drive space. I also have a thing where I can't stand how long it takes for some computers to load up their pages. So I'd need whatever-it's-called that would help with that. And I really hate it when the memory goes low, and the computer goes nuts. Also, I've heard some buzz about Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Do I need/want this? I don't really know what laptops go for, but I don't want to spend more than $2k. Can someone please help point me to some laptops I'd like? Thanks!
Toshiba's, even on amazon can be found with core dual, 100GB hard disks, 1GB RAM and ready to go.

If your looking for a media-friendly laptop then look at HP. Many of HP's laptops have Core 2 Duo options. Their highest model, the Pavilion dv9000, is only a bit over 1k.
Can't say we have any big issues.
