I would just like to say that recent reports tell most, if not all, the launch title games for the PS3 will be larger than the 8.5 GB capacity of a dual-layered DVD. In fact, there are reports that Resistance: Fall of Man will be 22GB in size. That's over 80% of the capacity that a single-layered Blu-Ray disk can hold. With the capacity of the PS3 to play 50GB dual-layered disks, the use of the storage will definitely increase. I am very pleased with this, knowing this will allow for greater detail in the games and longer storylines. I just hope that game developers will take advantage of this to improve their games when porting them to the PS3. Although the higher price for the Blu-ray drive hurts, faster loading times and bigger games is a great plus. Too bad the 360 wont have HD-DVD games, but if the PS3 does well from the Blu-Ray games maybe Microsoft will do so as well.
what you dont relize is how much a ps3 game will cost. You think all that extra game comes free? I think brand new ps3 games will be in the high 70$ range. Online blueray movies costs 35$ -is it just me or spending 35$ for a 15$ movie is lame-youd have to be on crack. You can keep blue ray until im forced to buy a player- when they stop making dvds.Until then i will think of it as unnecessary.
You gotta pay $600 for the system, and who knows how much the games will cost! Over $60, way over. I'm thinking a "nice" figure like $75.
I dunno about you, but I still like 360 over ps3.
Why is it necessary for everyone to continually argue over this 360 vs PS3 matter? At this point, none of us have any slight idea of what the PS3 games will be like. We've seen simulated demos, but you know the story's gonna be totally different when you can actually get a chance to play a real working game. Frankly, if you're happy with what you've got, be it the 360 or whatever, then stick with it. What on Earth is the point in fussin over which one is better. You can't possibly have a meaningful opinion at this point unless you've had your hands on both.
Yeah the PS3 games are going to require more space on the discs but the problem is it isn't for gameplay. All that extra is just for cutscene visuals. It's the movies during the game that require the 20+ gb. It would be great if it were for actual gameplay but frankly this is just another case of a company tweaking the facts to make their product seem much better than it really is.
Eventually the 360 will utilize the HD-DVD for games, which came out of the mouth of Bill Gates.
Also, I wanted to state that the Blu-ray player included with the PS3 is a very cheap version of what is out there and being the first generation of them I expect to see a substantial number of hardware failures for the PS3 from this player.
