'Apple Mac' or 'PC running Windows XP'

by davidmccrea - 6/19/06 5:52 AM

I will soon be purchasing a new computer and have had my eyes set on buying a Windows XP Computer for a while, but since I have seen the new Apple Macs out at the minute, I need some advice as to which is a better buy (bearing in mind I have never used a Mac before). I mainly use my PC for music, pictures, movie and picture editing, internet browsing, etc.

Thanks,
David

"music, pictures, movie and picture editing, internet browsing, etc."

Outside of what etc is, the Mac with iLife could be all one would need. I've been on/off the Mac for years so I'll write there is little to be afraid of when jumping onto a Mac. Go to a store and drive one around. It's not hard to use.

The really good news is that if you decide you can't stick with the Mac OS then we have boot camp (and more options) to run Windows XP. However the Windows experience is pretty much like any other box at the moment with the pest battle.

As for software you'll need to do these things! It's free with a new Mac.

I volunteer at our local hospice and create DVD's for our patients and their families using only the FREE software that's included. iPhoto for pictures, iTunes for my CD's or downloaded music, GarageBand for creating music, iMovie for editing the video and iDVD for making the movie and burning onto a DVD. And they ALL work with one another, smoothly. Within iMovie I can access all of those items, without having to run open each separate program.

Pick a Mac, you won't regret it
