Maxtor External Hard Drive gone bad

by Plancaster1950 - 8/17/06 6:02 PM

I bought an 80GB external H.D. a few months ago, it was working fine but one day it just stopped working.

When I plug the EHD in the USB and I turn it on it freezes at logon, when I unplug it starts up normaly.
When the PC is on and I plug it in the PC freezes until I unplug it.

Check Your Power Supply Drain

If you system functions normally without the external drive, I would suggest that you take a look at all the items connected to your system. Too many items might be straining the power supply.

http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-7590-0.html?forumID=67&threadID=28919&messageID=328179 has about every recovery method noted however your issue may differ. I can't comment much but if this was my machine I'd install the latest motherboard drivers.

Why can't I tell more? The details about the host machine are missing.
