does xp pro 64 bit need sp2 and if so can i slipstream it on an install cd
64 bit just means it has a dual processor and/or runs 64 bit programs.
But if you are installing Windows XP, you need SP2 as well, it is now an integral part of XP.

Windows XP Professional x64 is based on Windows Server 2003 SP1, and as such it does not accept the SP2 that's available for Windows XP Home, Professional, Media Center, and Tablet PC editions. In fact at this time there is no SP2 available for that side of the OS line..it is currently being worked on by Microsoft and should be released later this year, available for both Windows 2003 and Windows XP x64 users.
Hope this helps,
John
