Alienware Aurora 7500: Good Computer to Buy?

by Alex180 - 7/30/06 8:28 AM

Hello, I am interested in a fast computer that can be used for gaming and school. Anyone have an Alienware computer?

I've heard that the customer support is really bad from some reviews. On one review..I saw, "Great computer for 18 months." Does that mean the computer only lasts 18 months?

Thanks for your time,
Alex180

It's beyond amazing some of the shenanigans that we read about Alienware. If you are careful, the desktops might be fine, but I'm unconvinced they are truly into laptops.

Alienware started out as custom high-end systems. However, once they became popular it seems they couldn't keep the nubers up to thier old standards and quickly became just another system builder. They are now owned by Dell, so keeping that in mind you maybe under that direct support or thier own support via Alienware since its wan't too long ago brought out. As for laptops, Alienware never did make thier own they just brought from an Asian supplier and just loaded the s/w bundle, etc. and maybe tweaked it, so don't look for great differences compared to other vendors. Shop around and select what suits you, IMHO Alienware isn't that great anymore. You may want to look into Dell XPS systems.

If you are going to buy from any computer vendor, make sure the customer service and warranty is good. It can be like playing russian roulette with these companies.

Wait. You're saying that Alienware isnt that great, but your suggesting to go with Dell. Since Alienware is owned by Dell, how can you recommend Dell and not Alienware??? :S

if you have cash to throw around, do it b/c its cool just to say you have an alienware but if ur on a budget, get something custom built thats better for like 1/2 the price
