Spyware Program Question

by jlippincott - 7/25/06 8:21 PM

I found out that my CounterSpy spyware program doesn't give me the option of files not to scan. I have alot of jpg and mp3 files on my computer which I don't really need to scan for spyware. Is there a spyware program that will let me select file extensions not to scan????

None of the anti progs I use seem to have an option to exclude by file ext.

My AV prog did have that option years ago but that's long gone.

I'm thinking your question has to due with your long anti scan times.

As I recall you have a 2nd HD installed.

Maybe....move that HD to an usb encloser and use it to store files you DO NOT want to scan.

When your ready to run your anti scans...unplug the usb HD.

I can think of a way to do this with IDE but it's a bit more involved.

Maybe XP (which I don't have) an it's disk manager may have an easy way to enable/disable the unit.

From memory, doesn't ZoneAlarm allow you to specify which file types to include/exclude? (the one with the anti virus/spyware)
I'm not entirely sure tho since I'm purely a linux user these days and have minimal interation with windows setups, but it may be worth your looking into.

You should do a search on your own mp3's and check them.

If you do a search your self, choose' to unhide system files. You can check this files your self.
Now if you find a Mp3 file with a exe extention your in trouble,it would be called a trojan.

You just mentioned a good program i can/t belive it.
Anyway dos anybody no why sysweeper''s Ratings are so,high.
i just wondered if its because they have a pause button, wow a Pause Button.Thats for sombody that when they get tired of waiting for those long Scan;s you can pause it.
Really to check, Sysweeper in a Bench test, you need a lab
No Magazine can give these products a true and real test.
And you can take that to the bank.Ask any of these so,
called testers what use because do not have a lab like ,
Norton or Mcaffie.
Oh well i do know and this is, a fact.Magazine's and People who run web-pages for profit get alot of money,
for Giviing these Products a big Rateing hey lets face its just like washington DC ->(Lobbyest's)->$$$$$$$$$
