I have 3 yahoo accounts. Two of them are working fine, but one of them (my main email account) will not allow me to access my mailbox. I can sign into yahoo and view my calendar and address book, but when I attempt to check my mail (or do anything mail related) I get a "This page cannot be displayed" message from Internet Explorer. I have tried to access my account at home and at work with no luck. I do not believe it to be a configuration problem with my software since I am able to access my two other yahoo accounts. I have no idea what to do! Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks in advance!
My best guess is that your problematic account resides on a different server from the other two, and that server has issues or might just be down for routine maintenance.
In any case, it's clearly an issue with Yahoo's service, and they're the only ones who can tell you what's going on, as well as help you fix it.
Thanks for the help ..
I was able to log into my account this morning. I didn't even think about the fact that they might have my account on a different server than the others.
Since my Yahoo instant messenger was down for a good couple of hours yesterday, odds are the server monkey's at Yahoo are making the rounds. Expect your other accounts to suffer a similar outage sometime in the near future.
I've got the same problem. I can login and see the homepage, but can't read messages or get to the inbox. It's funny, because at mail preview, I can update and see titles, but can't read them! Other Yahoo accounts work as advertised.
I assume that Yahoo knows about and is working to resolve this problem, but how can I be sure that it's not something I'm doing wrong (e.g. cookies enabled or something like that)? Yahoo Help isn't much. I can't find any "live chat" or problem reporting scheme, other than reporting a question through their help screens.
Thanks, and it's comforting to know I'm not the only one with this problem. If it weren't for CNet, I would go on believing that it's my problem, not Yahoo's.

I'm glad to see these posts, I'm not alone, it's happening to me now, and that my guess as to it being a server problem at Yahoo is in agreement with "mike_omally" post. I will try and be cool while I hope/wait for it to get fixed. Thanks for posting.
THE LAST 3 DAYS HARD AS HELL TO GET E-MAIL
First, more information about your computers would be helpful.. Operating system, etc.
Next, if you haven't already, please follow the instructions below to download and install both Java 6 and the newest Windows Script Engine.
Click on the link to Sun's Java below, then click on the ''Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6'' download button. Follow the prompts, accept the license agreement, then download the full ''Windows Offline Installation'' file to your desktop,(about 15 MB), scan it with your antivirus (just to be sure it's clean). Once that's done, if you've already got a Sun Java version on the computer, open the Control Panel, double click on the ''Add/Remove Programs'' section, then uninstall all previous version of the J2SE Java listed there. Once that's done, then install Java JRE 6 from the downloaded installer.
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
AFter that, if you're both using Windows XP, please download and install the updated Script engine from the appropriate link below:
Windows Script 5.6 for Windows XP and Windows 2000
After everything is installed, then open the Control Panel, double click on the ''Internet Options'' icon, then click on the ''Advanced'' tab. When that loads, scroll down to the ''Java(Sun)'' section and make sure there is a CHECK mark next to: ''Use JRE 1.6.0....''. Click on Apply. Then scroll to the ''Multimedia'' section and place a CHECK mark in the ''Play Sounds In Web Pages'', ''Play videos in Web Pages'', & ''Show pictures'' box and UNCHECK the box next to ''Show download Placeholders:'', then click on Apply, then Ok. Then click on the ''Security'' tab in ''Internet Options''. Once that opens, click on the ''Internet'' icon (the World globe), then click on the ''Custom Level'' button. When that loads, make sure the ''Reset to'' line says: ''Medium'', then click on the ''Reset'' button, then select ''Yes/OK''. It asks: ''Are you sure?''.

Next, if the above doesn't help, try downloading and installing Firefox and see if it fixes the issue. If it does, then Internet Explorer is broken and needs to be repaired.

One other thing comes to mind.. If you're using a HOSTS file, specifically the new HpHOSTS (used to be HpGuru), the new file blocks all of Yahoo for various reasons... If this is the case, there's an easy way to remove the Yahoo servers but you'll need to post back.
Hope this helps.

I got in okay the last 2 days. I will post back when I have time to check both computers. Last check on them, they were both up to date and both failed to get in on just the one account. One is a Win98se with Firefox 1.5.0.10 and IE6, the other is an XP sp2 IE6 only.
Tonite at Yahoo on 2 accounts the log out was missing from some pages. I will follow up with your suggestions as soon as I can.
Yesterday I upgraded a Windows ME system to IE 6. After hours of trying, it installed but then a) I could not log in to a website with my password and b) all my Yahoo messages were blank, including ones I had read earlier in the day. When I try resetting encoding to Western Europe, there is a very fast flash of the message and then it disappears again.
I understand the machine and system are old but it is loaded with a retail software app of the same vintage and I need to be able to run that. The company no longer exists.
Could it be a Java problem? If so, how can I check? Or, what do you all think?
Thanks, Pat
As I understand it IE6 download no longer contains some elements per Microsoft and one of those elements is the visual basic component. This maybe the reason for the blank emails. I know it was the cause of many programs failing after I had removed IE6 because it was damaged. I downloaded and re-installed IE6. Then programs like Hijackthis and Norton anti-virus stopped working and I found info on the Merijn.org site that lead me to install the Visual Basic Run Time environment. The link below should allow a download of vbrun60sp5.exe, this may fix the problem and you may need it anyway.

You should update your Java run time just on G.P., it could fix the problem. If that doesn't do it try the forwarding trick (see below). By the way I have switched to FireFox 2 and found that doing Sun Java updates were easer with FF than IE6 and FF seems to be a lot more bullet proof.
I had this problem with emails from Cnet newsletters emails. The problem cleared up in time but while it was going on I found if I forwarded the message as text on the page before you send and add your text on top of the forward section I found I could then view the email. If this forwarding trick works post back and I will look through my old notes on what I did to fix my blank yahoo emails from Cnet newsletter.
