Is there a way to delete chosen items found in the dropdown history section of the IE address bar without clearing the entire history?
It's not a straight forward solution, but can be done by editing registry. If you are familliar with Windows registry (if not, DON'T mess with it), search for TypedURLs and you will find all entries listed consecutively as url1, url2, etc. Delete what you don't want, but rename url1, url3, etc. consecutively.
When I went to clear typed urls in my system's registry in order to clear them from the ie address bar I discovered that there were no entries at TypedURLs. But I know for a fact there are entries stored somewhere for the address bar. Where are they? That's the question.
Did you ever find the entries? J.M.
Thank you, Sanga! On my computer, the entries were where they were supposed to be and deleting specific entries was successful.
I noticed an alternative way to get rid of an unwanted entry in the IE drop-down bar. There seems to be a maximum of 25 entries kept and listed. So, if you enter enough web addresses and/or address bar searches, eventually the entry you don't want is knocked off the bottom of the list.
it worked for me

it's shareware, but you can just use it during the free trial and be done with it
There is a heap of guides over at http://www.deletehistory.com
How???
Second poster's suggestion does not work...Click on the options button on your Google tool bar. In the options tab, uncheck the "drop down search history box" and then apply and ok. Then go back and re-check the same box and apply then ok. When you click the drop down again the history is gone.
Just select word that ypu search for in menu-then delete it with delete button on your keyboard
