Nikon D70s & SB-600

by w6fr - 4/5/06 10:18 AM

Greetings,

Using a new D70s in conjunction with its companion SB-600 flash unit. I find that the flash is capable of greatly over-riding the TTL that I had assumed would control it. Have other users experienced the same thing or is this a problem?

THANKS,

Marv

Here is a discussion on the SB-600, maybe you can get some tips there:

Green light

The green light flashes as the data is being written to the flash card. You may not be using as fast a card as the camera is capable of writing. If you are using a slow card (i.e. inexpensive), then that is the choke point for data transfer. Get a faster card!
The D70 has an internal buffer that allows multi frame shooting. You should not be having this issue.

If the internal buffer can handle at least two shots,

the speed of the card should be irrelevant. Perhaps, it is an issue with the camera? Perhaps a setting, or repair? Just guessing. I have a Canon and am not familiar with better Nikons.

THANK YOU for your interest and reply. The card is a SanDisk and approved by Nikon's Tech Support so I would expect it to perform properly. Your input is sincerely appreciated.

Green Light: Many thanks for your interest and reply. I am using a SanDisk card that is approved by Nikon's tech support. It is undoubtedly a "slow" one but since it is approved, I would expect that the problem should not exist. Or, are they behind the curve? First chance I have to purchase a small "fast" card, at a reasonable price, I will buy one just for the test.

Do you have Noise Reduction On

by rdoan76 - 7/21/06 9:43 AM In reply to: Nikon d70 by doneflop

If you do, that affects the write times on your memory card. If you are shooting at higher shutter speeds and in adequate light, I would turn the Noise Reduction off. I only use it when I am shooting at night with long exposures of 1 second or more.
