I have both windows xp home and windows 2000 on my computer but I am unable to boot xp. XP is on the first partion and worked untill I installed 2000 on the second.
What happens it this. When I boot up the computer it gives the option to boot xp or 2000 but if I choose xp it gives an error saying that it can not boot windows 2000.
Is there anything I can do to fix this. I do not have xp disk.

...and get an XP installation disc.

What does your ''boot.ini'' file look like?

To do this whithout an XP installation disc, I would look into getting rid of the Windows 2000 inatallation on that HD. After removing Windows 2000, you may have to fix the master boot record so Windows XP can boot (Google: fixmbr).
Set BIOS to boot from an empty secondary HD, and install Windows 2000 to that secondary HD. Use your BIOS settings as a boot menu (set primary boot drive to whatever HD you want).

Maybe try ''Grub'' as a boot loader.
You was supposed to install 2000 professional first and then XP. anyhow, go with the below link and get the task done...
