Bluetooth Trouble with Verizon LG VX8300

by josmor - 7/10/06 6:39 PM

Hi All -- I recently re-upped my plan with Verizon and got the new LG VX8300. The phone has executed flawlessly, with exception to the Bluetooth. I've tried three headsets with the phone (Motorola H700 and H500, as well as a Plantronics 640) and all have had subpar performance. Typically, I can hear fine, but the person on the other end hears an echo or my voice is faint. Once I get about 10-plus feet from my handset, the reception really drops on both ends.

Has anyone else had Bluetooth issues with LG phones?

No problems with an LG headset

by male6 - 7/11/06 8:17 AM In reply to: Bluetooth Trouble with Verizon LG VX8300 by josmor

I have the LG 8300 and first tried a Motorola headset and it was terrible. I found the LG HBM300 at Best Buy and it works fine. I have a one bedroom apt. and I walk all over with no static or crackling. Hope this helps.

Great -- maybe I will try the LG bluetooth headset. I, too, saw it at Best Buy but opted for a Motorola instead. I am trying a Plantronics 640 now and it is working better, but I'm thinking I should give the LG a shot as well.

Echo?

by josmor - 7/12/06 7:48 PM In reply to: No problems with an LG headset by male6

Do you get an echo when you have the LG headset on high volume? I just got the HBM-300 today and it works well, but folks on the other end get a periodic echo when I have the volume high.

lower the volume

you might have to volume to high. Try lowering the volume.

I did

Thanks -- I did lower the volume and that took care of the echo. Is this a typical problem with bluetooth headsets?

VX8300 with Bluetooth

by khiattjr - 3/14/07 12:58 PM In reply to: Bluetooth Trouble with Verizon LG VX8300 by josmor

I'm having similar problems: A LOT of static with the Plantronics 640E headset, even if the phone is just inches away. On about 25% of my calls, the person on the other end sounds like they're talking underwater, although they can hear me just fine; again with the phone just 2-3' away.

Best Buy insists that this one of their most popular headsets with employees and customers, so they exchanged it for another one. We'll see.

Bluetooth Problems with LG Dare VX9700

by riteguy - 9/30/08 12:05 AM In reply to: lg bluetooth problems by ksackman

I've had problems within the first 30 days of using my LG Dare with different bluetooth sets. First, I was using the Plantronics PL510, which exhibited loss of signal and static. Then I tried a Motorola H700 which was worse yet, and now I'm having problems with the Jawbone 1. I've exchanged the phone once, and now on the 2nd Jawbone 1 headset to see if the problem has been eliminated. My son has the LG Chocolate and had the same problems I had using the Plantronics PL510. Not sure if it's the LG phones, but it's looking that way.

LG Dare Bluetooth Problem

by riteguy - 3/24/09 8:32 AM In reply to: Bluetooth Problems with LG Dare VX9700 by riteguy

I finally found someone at Verizon who told me that LG had put out two software upgrade versions for my LG Dare that were specific for the bluetooth. So I went in and in one hour had the problems with all my bluetooth issues resolved. I can now use any bluetooth instrument I want without problems. I just find it sad that it took so long to discover what the real answer was. If you are having issues, check the software version your phone is using and see if there is an upgrade.

Bluetooth Trouble With Verizon LG Dare

by Dingram99 - 10/8/08 7:28 AM In reply to: Bluetooth Trouble with Verizon LG VX8300 by josmor

Hello everyone -- I am very glad to see reports of others having the same trouble with the LG Dare and bluetooth. I am on my second Dare and my 3rd bluetooth headset. I have only owned the Dare for 6 weeks. I love the phone, the battery life, the call quality etc, except for with the bluetooth. I make most of my calls in my car using bluetooth and I will have to get rid of the phone if i cannot use it with bluetooth. I have tried a Jabra model and also Plantronics. I am able to hear the callers fine but i am always receiving complaints that i come thru choppy and that my voice goes in and out. Its frustrating. This is not an LG issue -- maybe only with the Dare. I have had wonderful luck using bluetooth with my LG8300 flip phone several years ago, and also the LG EnV (the first version). This has been a nightmare. Should i try the HBM300 headset on my Dare or just give up and get rid of it?? Please help

LG Dare

by teamxp - 10/28/08 9:47 AM In reply to: Bluetooth Trouble With Verizon LG Dare by Dingram99

I just bought the LG Dare last week and I've been using it with the Motorola H700 blue tooth headset without a problem. But, again, it's only been a week, so I'll have to use it more to see if it shows any issues later on.

bluetooth problem with dare

by JohnA1234 - 11/6/08 2:44 PM In reply to: Bluetooth Trouble With Verizon LG Dare by Dingram99

Hey guys, well i have encountered the same exact problem as the rest of u when it comes to the dare.ive had the phone for about 2 weeks now and i cant seem to find a bluetooth that works with it. i upgraded from the krazr and used the motorola h700 in which i had absolutely no problems at all. ever since ive upgraded people kept telling me that i was cutting out, almost as if i had another call coming through but i didnt. this was only when i was on my bluetooth though. so i called tech support and they deemed the problem to be with the bluetooth, saying it was old and needed to be upgraded as well. so i did just that. i purchased the motorola h710 and to my suprise, same problem..ugh!!!.. i called tech supprt once again. this time around they said it must be the phone. so i went to a local store and swapped out my week 1/2 old dare for a new one. once i got the phone i went and paired the bluetooth to make a call and guess whatt??!!! i was told i was still cutting out. so once again, i called tech support. they now said that motorola headsets dont pair well with lg phones, that lg has trouble sometimes working properly with the bluetooth. however , long story short, they are sending me yet another bluetooth headset in hopes of it working. but iom sure it wont. does anyone on here know which headset will work correctly with the dare??? i love the phone, but its not worth all the headache with people asking me to repeat myself all the time. if this continues im going to return the phone for another model. o and by the way, verizon has been extremely helpful. they dicounted me greatly bc of this. a+ for them. any feedback would be great. sorry for the long story, lol, just wanted to explain everything for people having the same problems as me.

I FOUND ONE THAT WORKS!!!!

by JohnA1234 - 11/12/08 2:53 PM In reply to: bluetooth problem with dare by JohnA1234

Hey guys well i have done it! i finally found a bluetooth that pairs perfectly with the lg dare. it took some effort bud i did it. the ONLY headset that i have found that pairs perfectly with the dare is the BLUEANT V1 headset. it runs around $90 or so. it is the only bluetooth in production at the moment that is equipped with bluetooth 2.1 software which is what the dare has. i have tried it for a few days now and no problems at all. its a little pricey but totally worth it in my opinion. i had to order this headset online bc i could not find it anywhere in stores. just do a search on google. i personally got mine off ebay. brand new sealed in box for $90 shipped. GOOD LUCK to everyone with this problem.

Congratulations!!!!

I finally gave up and traded in my Dare for a Blackberry Curve. I'm loving the Blackberry but the battery life sucks. I will most likely purchase an extended life battery thru crackberry.com. I will keep this headset in mind for the future ....my son is interested in getting the Dare in the spring. Interesting about the 2.1 technology ..... it sounds like this was the missing piece to the puzzle. Let us know if it keeps working for you. You mentioned it was pricey .... however, all the time i have spent buying and returning headsets and handsets was well over $90 worth of my time so i think your money was very well spent!!! good job! and good luck with it.
