I am using XP Pro with 1 Gig Ram and plenty of hard disk space (500 Gig).
I am having difficulty saving videos from my Sony DCR-TRV480 NTSC video camera.
I used to be able to with no issues however, I've recently reinstalled my operating system and since then it appears that the video is transferring and after I try, finishing this error occurs:
.avi could not be imported. The selected file is not valid or is corrupted.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Did you reinstall the much needed software and drivers for your Sony? Where and what is the video transferring to? A certain program? Please be specific. Thanks,
Paul
Hi Paul,
Thanks for your much needed help.
No I did not reinstall the needed software drivers from Sony. My camera did not come with a disk, I just plugged it in to the computer with a fire wire and it used to work and after the reinstall it does not.
The video is being transfered from a Sony DCR-TRV480 NTSC camera.
I would prefer to use Microsoft Movie Maker 2 to transfer and edit my videos.
Where would I get the software updates?
Cheers
If you have a video capture card or graphics card with firewire, you may need to reinstall those drivers. Could be onboard also, integrated on the motherboard. Let me know what you have and we will go from there.

Thanks Paul,
Give me a bit of time to try and figure the drives out and I'll get back to you.
I do have a graphics card and I think is a MSI MS-StarForce GeForce 6600 (NVIDIA GeForce). I'm not familiar with reinstallation process of these drivers.
I think my motherboard is MSI 925X Neo-54G.

Select your exact model, download the drivers, and the manual. Typically you install the drivers first but that's not always the case so read the manual and this should tell you how to go about it.

It's been a while since your original and I went off the current one. If it is saying it's corrupt, you may indeed need to update or get another software.
