windows explorer error

i keep getting a message saying windows explorer has encountered an error and needs to close, i get it every time i open any folder, and then they close, i cant get to open any of my files, i have xp pro with SP1a installed. any ideas how to fix this?

What does it say in event viewer,this LINKshows how.

the shell stopped unexpectedly and explorer.exe was restarted.

got the same issue

clicking "file" closes the explorer windoew, right clicking any item on the left closes the explorer window. Sometimes it fixes itself, sometimes it doesn't. Quite annoying.
