Why now SAVRTPEL Error happening/XPSP2?

by firedogs - 7/11/06 11:00 AM

Good Day,

A few days ago when coming onto the desktop I would not be able to use RUN or get into the Control Panel. This does not happen all of the time, and to temporary fix the problem, I need to at least go with one, or more, reboots are needed. I checked in the Event Viewer and seen the error. I right-clicked and went to its properties. It states: "The SAVRTPEL service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified." I clicked on the for more information link and below is what it has to say. How to correct this situation as clearly as you can state. Thanks Much!

Here's how someone else got it fixed. Hope it's helpful.

fix savrtpel service

Symantec indicates it can also be caused by a virus or worm. So you might want to scan/remove any dastardly critter's that may be on board the computer.
