Column limit in Excel

by hci_steve - 7/11/06 8:33 AM

I have data that I want to put into Excel that has more than 256 columns -- the column limit in Excel. Is there a way to expand that limit? Or, is there another product I could use that had a greater limit?

Swap rows and columns

There isn't a way to change that limit.

How many pieces of data do you plan on having? If it is less than 255, you can turn your columns into rows and put your data in the columns. You might also be able to spread your data onto multiple sheets.

The other software you could look at is Access. If you give a little more detail on the type of data you are entering and how it is to be used we might be able to give you more help.
