Important detail reguarding SVP 12MP camera

by SkyFly757 - 2/7/07 6:47 PM In reply to: software needed by rad1224

The Camera is made in Communist China, there's a clue. The software does install, but do not do this, risk at your own peril. It won't download until you bypass the Microsoft warning, the manual says to continue anyway, but DO NOT, as the software has not been tested for compatability with Microsoft XP, 2000 and NT (I suspect, all other versions as well), this company did not have their software tested with microsoft, as they should have. If you install software's driver you will alter the registry and possibly create a gateway for hacker spying or malicious abuse to your system, which may involve months of ongoing system problems. I think a class action lawsuit is in order, at least to address camera problems and resolve Microsoft issues.

Oh and I did not install, but thought hard about it, finally deciding not to risk it. I will return to this forum in 1-2 weeks for further information and for gathering forces to bear on this growing issue.

YOU DONT NEED A DRIVER. TURN ON CAMERA FIRST. SWITCH TO USB MODE THEN PLUG CAMERA IN TO USB PORT. HEAR WINDOWS DING? SEE CAMERA LCD GO OFF? GO TO MY COMPUTER AND SEE EXTRA REMOVEABLE DRIVE? YOUR PICTURES ARE IN THERE. YOU ARE WELCOME. IM JUST GOOD AT FIGURING STUFF OUT

Hello... I have the SVP HDDV 2800 and the driver cd is no good to me because it is for Win98 and I'm using XP. Do you know where I can download the drivers? I cannot find it on the SVP website.. .model is no longer on there and don't know where else to look. I am trying to get the webcam working and can't until I install the drivers. I finally figured out how to view my pictures though.. woohoo..lol. Would very much appreciate any help in getting the webcam to work.. thanks..

Blurry Pictures / Very Dark LCD

by iamsammasmai - 7/10/06 12:20 AM In reply to: I can help you with you SVP camera by svptechaid

I recently purchased an SVP DC12v-LE digital camera and I would like some help with the configurations that might make the camera take better pictures.

Firstly, the is no physical viewfinder so the LCD is the only way to see what you are pointing at, and my LCD is exceptionally dark. Even now as I sit in my basement with three overhead lights that provide enough light for me to see anything in the basement, I can't see anything on the LCD except my computer monitor because everything is too dark. The flash also is really crappy, it consitently creates way too bright photos that are also blurry. The only clear pictures I can get are in outside lighting with no flash.

I would also like some information about the different settings such as cloudy and tungsten and I would like to know more about what the EV shift does besides just allow more or less light to be exposed to the lens.

I will continue to play around with the settings, although there is nowhere that can make the LCD brighter which makes the camera pretty useless; even during the day with regular interior lighting it takes crappy pictures.

There are alot of posts on C|net calling these cameras fraudulent and ripoff scam; here is an opportunity to prove them wrong by providing helpful customer service. I would like this 3MP camera, which was advertised as 12MP, to at least take pictures that are comparable to other 3MP cameras; so far it doesn't.

Problem not solved

by iamsammasmai - 7/10/06 9:58 PM In reply to: Blurry Pictures/Dark LCD by snapshot2 Moderator

Not to be a jerk, but this thread was started by the SVP tech-aid guy and I would like a response from him since that is what he promised in his original post.

I got a manual with my camera, it is written by someone who obviously does not speak English as a first language. It is very vague and does not describe any of the features, it just lists them. Contacting SVP tech aid is what I am doing right now, only I would like to do so in this public fora so as to hopefully help others who may experience similar issues with these cameras and also to avoid the BS copy and paste response that will probably come from their tech support.

I would like the person who claims to want to help with SVP cameras who started this post to reply to me. I haven't seen a single helpful reply on this thread and am getting more upset every day that I am stupid enough to get ripped off on Ebay even with all the positive ratings. If the SVP guy can publicly show me that I did not get ripped off and that their cameras arent crappy, then I invite him to do so for the sake of his company.
