hello. i've been trying to use Adobe lately but when i try to open anything, it just freezes and closes out. i thought maybe i needed to upgrade or something so i tried to delete it so i could download another version, but when i did, it said "This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."
What exactly does that mean?
uninstall?
Are you having this trouble with a Radio Shack computer? Hint, hint.
no, it's not a Radio Shack computer. haha. when i try to uninstall it, i get the same error message each time.
Adobe is a company that makes many different products. Knowing which one you're talking about would be a big step forward in anyone being able to help you.
it's Adobe Acrobat Reader. ![]()
If all you want to do is open and read PDF files, you should try Foxit Reader which can be downloaded from
www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php
This program requires no installation - just run the executable and it launches in about one second. It also includes some tools that Adobe lacks such as a "typewriter" that lets you edit any text in the PDF, not just in form fields
What Operating System are you using?
What version of Adobe Acrobat Reader are you trying to install?
Rick
i think it's Microsoft Windows XP wish Service Pack 2. i hope that's what you meant.
oh, i would like to have version 7.0.7. anything that would work to open my files again. ![]()
The Adobe Acrobat is now Adobe Reader. Make sure you have UNINSTALLED it, not delete files. Then you can get Adobe Reader 7.0.7 here. Hope this helps. This download should uninstall any previous version you may have.
..at the link below. Version 7.0.8 is the newest available and I've provided the link to the "full" installer, NOT the patch.. Before installing 7.0.8, open the Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs and uninstall your previous version.
Make sure to UNCHECK the boxes for downloading the "Yahoo Toolbar" and "Photoshop Starter Edition" unless you actually want them.

Hope this helps.

too, they've went from reader 7.0.1 to 7.0.8 in only about 3 months or so. Ive also downloaded foxitreader just to compare them side by side.
