THERE AER 5 INTERNAL FUSE`S (F1620) ALWAYS BLOWS
Would you be able to provide me with any diagrams/pics and instructions showing how to take the camera apart to find the fuses mentioned in this e-mail string?
Thanks

Dear Dr.Bot,
I have the same problem. No power. Where do I find the fuses that jbs138 mentioned. How do I get to the main board? I do not want to break any seal because I am going to end up sending the unit to JVC.
Please advise direct to gfugedi@sympatico.ca
Thank you
I dont pull my JVC out too often but for holidays and celebrations so I was throroughly mad to find that after a year from purchase it is not working 2 days before Christmas. I was so glad to find your link to JVC but I just hope that whatever JVC does will fix it permanently.
Contacted JVC England ,with reference to JVC USA's positive response, they agreed to repair my camcorder free of charge(including pickup) even though it was just outside 1 year warranty. They also gave me 3 months warranty after repair(new C.C.D). Excellent result.
Because of CNET and the user forums I learned that JVC would fix this problem free of charge. They did, and the camera now works great. Interestingly I seem to be the only participant in this forum who likes this camera. It has a 3 1/2 inch screen, easy to use, great pictures. What more could anyone ask?
Your question "What more could anyone ask?" promted me to get involved. You are right I loved this camera too. It is dead after 23 months. Same problem as most of you. So what more I would ask for?
RELIABILITY. WHEN THEY SELL YOU SOMETHING THAT COSTS $600 PLUS YOU SHOUL BE ENTITLED TO A LONG TIME USE AND ENJOYMENT. IF THEY MADE A MISTAKE BY USING SOME CHEEP PARTS IT IS THEIR OBLIGATION BOTH MORALLY AND AS PROODENT CUSTOMER SERVICE TO COME OUT AND OFFER THIS REPAIR VOLANTARYLY. THIS IS ALL I ASK FOR. But they did not even answer two of my e-mails yet.
Yeah just turned my jvc GR-DX75AG on for the first time in about a month, and i too get the LENS CAP problem, i can record sound fine, but black is all i see.
Might have to find a jvc dealer over here somewhere and have a chat...
I faxed every repair depot asking for help -- received a reply from EVERY one of them. Your US closest repair place is probably Hawaii.
Its rather ironical that JVC's "widespread" lens cap problem of the CCD failing, seems to be actually caused by a Sony part (ICX281), and yet I haven't heard of Sony camcorders suffering from this to the same extent. strange!!!
The other thing that worries me is that the camcorders concerned were all manufactured in the 2002/3 era, so if "they" were manufactured then, I hope its known exactly when the CCD's were manufactured, as I can see a possibility of another potentially faulty one getting used as a replacement, that is unless JVC actually supplies the replacement parts to their agents themselves, as "very" variable prices for the ICX281's can be seen on far Eastern suppliers web sites, ranging from as low as $5.00 to over $100 per item.
Very tempting to the unscrupulous!!
Had this camera for two and half years, six months ago the same occurring problem happened to mine too;Distorted picture whereas playback is normal.had found the tread of JVC USA repairing them last year.Had bought it from UK as I`m from Malta and it was something silly as $1600 from here, however it still cost me $1000 pre EU accession through levy and tax. Anyway I had send 3 e-mails to jvc Italy,Unitedkingdom and Germany without even an acknowledgment from any of them, so I just packed it and put it away.got myself a canon powershot S1 IS and cam in it was good enough for the family.Today my father told me what I think about JVC Everio GZ-MG21 HDD. Told him no way I will think about another cam until JVC repairs this.Took it out retried it and started browsing.I see UK are repairing them too now.it was a very bad wide spread problem.I was asked $475 to get it repaired here, ha ha. There is no fixed JVC agent either.I do hope as it was bought from UK they will repair mine too
Hey all, just wanted to thank you for posting helpful ideas! I've got the GR-D90 and I have the dreaded lens cap problem. Luckily, I finally know how to go about getting it fixed. Thanks again!!
