Finally got my refund

OK, I admit I was harsh for using the term "crooks." But finally after weeks of squeaking the wheels, my $4000+ has been credited back to my Discover Card account.

Hybridgear's schtick is that they have the cheapest price and greatest bang for the bucks with superb components. Unfortunately, they can't deliver in a timely manner and their customer service sucks. All I really needed was a phone call to tell me why my order was delayed, and an apology. If they were to call me up give a reasonable explanation and make it up to me in something like free delivery, free upgrade, etc...I'd have no problem waiting more than 4 weeks for the machine to be built.

Glad to hear you received your refund. I still have my futuretop and its running like a dream. Couldn't ask for a better high performance laptop. I still suggest anyone who wants a fast machine that is ahead of its time and has all the bells and whistles, then this is the one to buy.

By the way, did you purchase another laptop or put the money back in the bank.

MY EVO-X (D900T) - DEAD AND THEY DONT RESPOND

These guys are the @#%#$ worst. I even talked to their repair partner Chem USA (www.chemusa.com) and they say that these guys barely respond. Their 800# is gone, their emails bounce back, and the "cell" # I have for them goes unanswered. I have an EV0-X which I paid over 3k for and have already had to send it back twice; now it wont boot up at all after freezing regularly for about a week. All this with a supposed "rock solid" 3 Year warranty... the machine is good but defintely NOT for regular moving around. Anyone with this machine that has links to reputable repair companies please contact me. Hell, if there's a lawsuit going against these guys I'd definitely like to know. Good luck everyone.

Hybridgear = fraud

Hybridgear.net is definately the worst. They never included an XP cd with my purchase even though I payed for it! I called multiple times and they said that it was "in the mail" and finally they do not exist as described in previous post!

Now I get a message every 5 minutes telling me that Microsoft Windows XP Professional VLK has now expired. I called Microsoft and talked to there fraud department, they said I had to purchase the license for $150!

This is very frustrating and is a reason for going with noteworthy companies (Lenova, Dell, Gateway) and not comanies trying to make a living off of ebay.

The fraud rep from Microsoft was very helpful and said that they have pushed this ticket onto there legal team. Will much happen? Probably not, but everyone here looses out because of a chop shop in Texas.

Does FutureTop/HybridGear Stil Exist?

Hi All,

I've been reading the posts here and the "goods"
and "bads" of HybridGear - over the past several
months now. Glad I've not been in a hurry to buy
anything!

Based on my attempts to do things on their web pages,
failed e-mails, and failure to answer their phone,
I'm beginning to wonder if hybridgear still exists.

Many of their web pages now produce errors such as:
"Unknown MySQL server host 'futuretop.net'". And,
e-mails to sales and support@HybridGear.net both
bounced back - no mailbox by that name.

And, their phone number reported as disconnected a
few times - unless I dialed wrong.... Today, it
just rang - no answer, no machine.

My guess is they no longer exist. It sounded like
they built a powerful machine. No word on how well
built they were - over time.... And, they had very
attractive prices.

If they still exist, perhaps someone will see this
and respond.... If they are gone, I do hope they
built a machine that lasts for those who bought
them!

Satisfied customers rare and still have complaints but...

I've read a few forums and from what I can see yes the company is still there but if anything their getting worse no one gets anything on time I think of of the boast of the company is made in 4 days and shipped which would give you a time like bud was saying of 8 days but well in reality no one I've seen got the computer in less than 30 days. Like you said the website is still there but I couldn't get into building my own system or buying anything and had the error message you talked about at the bottom of the page. But anyways interesting posting to read seeing as I hadn't really heard of the company before now did get me thinking though why people buying laptops like these just don't build their own laptops I mean if your going to just stick desktop parts in it anyways and make it 15 pounds with crappy service support at least building it yourself wouldn't screw with your nerves as much. Actually read a review from a guy who go his system with used parts and when he sent the computer back in to be replaced they sent him a computer that was completly used not just the hd and told him after that he couldn't get a refund. Anyways yeah I guess they still exist seeing as I thought I saw someone buying one around feburary of this year but they may have dropped out completly from the game in the last couple of months who knows lol I guess you can keep calling the number I'm not don't want one of these.

"broadwayCG-Unit" also responded in another thread
here that he's not able to get through to HybridGear.
No response on the cell number he was given. This
is under the one titled: "MY EVO-X (D900T) - DEAD AND THEY DONT RESPOND".

I hope he gets the help he needs. After all paying
over $3k for a box is a lot of money!

Good luck. And, let's hope other folks' computers
last better than broadway's did.

go to chemusa.com (use IE, the site's menu doesn't like firefox). I had my laptop warrantied a while ago when hybridgear was still around, and they just sent me a shipping label and directed me to get an rma from chemusa (the mfr. and contrary to hybridgear's absymal support, these guys are really great, same day warranty turn around time). This may not work for all of their laptops depending on who the ODM is per your particular box, but this is probably your best shot.

Making a claim to the BBB !!!

I will be making a claim to the Better Bussiness Bearue of (Austin) Texas against Hybrid Gear/ Future top. I had purchased a 3600 dollar laptop (the evo x) in July. In august they were bought out (or merged with) futuretop (now my laptop is called the command top) . I had purchased a 200 + dollar warranty with hybrid gear, and now its been 1 year and I saw a lack of costumer support and now a lack of service (since they are offically gone). If anyone knows how to come in contact WITH anyone at hybrid gear please notify me, otherwise I may not have a case against them.

Sorry to see HybridGear appears to be gone and
the trouble folks seem to be going through for
support.

One of the posts here mentioned eurocom.com and
powernotebooks.com. I got real interested in a
refurbished unit from eurocom.com. Then I found
powernotebooks.com. For the US their prices are
far more reasonable - tarifs and such to get from
eurocom.com in Canada to the US!

I almost bought one of the Sager systems that is
identical to what HybridGear sold. Same body and
configurations. But, I decided on a bit more
reasonable system, the 5760.

If you check out powernotebooks.com, talk to
Donald Stratton, he's the owner. He was very
knowledgeable and helpful. I won't get anything,
but, tell him Ed recommended him and his company.
You might get a discount for the referral....

Hi Bud,

Thanks for the BBB information about HybridGear.
Perhaps it will help someone. The systems looked
like they may have been Sager built. Perhaps
they were and might even be covered by Sager.
Maybe they JUST look like the Sager notebooks
sold at PowerNotebooks.com.... I don't know.
