Peripherals: Lexmark X73 scanning problem

Lexmark X73 scanning problem

I've had too many problems with this machine lately and may give up soon.

The scanner which sometimes becomes non enabled, I seem to have been able to fix that whenever it comes up.

But now, the scanner won't reduce the image the way it is supposed to. I went to the Lexmark site for them to give me the info I already know.

So, if any one knows why this is happening, or can tell me if a certain setting is off, I'd really appreciate it.
