I know the obvious but can find little on this as far as what they actually do. Is it just a screen? Do they plug into your tv , etc...to allow you to view it on screen? Does it need a projector? It doesn't specify such but will it work for a pc? I know about computers but all this other stuff , well, there's too much to keep up on it seems. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

TIA, Paul
you might have a need for the 92" screen.
Can you control the ambinent light in your viewing room??
The screen is a gray screen and will work better than a white screen if there is room light. It is a 16x9 format screen, the projectors in your link were 3x4 format.
Here is a link that may be helpfull. John

for the replies from all. I e-mailed projector people on the specs of this screen. I wanted to buy a big screen TV but thought if I use my pc and projector, heck , that is a REAL big screen. I can hook up the surround sound from the pc to my stereo and viola! I think the 100 inch screen would be good. It would be mostly at night to watch a movie anyway, so light would not be an issue. Plus, it's far cheaper than a big screen TV. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks again, Paul
The actual apect ratio would be 4:3, not 3x4. someof those projectors listed in the previous post do SUPPORT HD signals but their native resolutions are 4:3.
you can actually hook up hd to it? And view it as a large tv screen?
Thanks , Paul
I think HD means high def. and it's there just to make it sound good (selling point). That's what I think.
1.) The "HD" terminology refers to the fact that it's 16:9 format, which is what we watch HD on, not 4:3.
2.) This is a prjector screen, so you need a front projector (as others mentioned) to project an image. So, do you plan on buying a front projector? Good ones are NOT cheap. In fact, often times more expensive than a good TV.
3.) If you plan on using a front projector, you need to get a video signal into it. Your PC has a DVI output which may work, but by the time you get your PC wired into your home theater for audio, the DVI cable into your projector, and the fact that you need to physically touch and control the PC to play the DVD, well, you may have a rats nest of wiring.
Seems like a lot of make-shift hookups to replicate what a DVD player does when connected to a TV and a receiver.
See, what confused me was some said it plugged into your HDTV, that was why I questioned what I thought HD screen was. Also, I was looking into projectors and they are costly enough, some as high as 30,000 or more, I couldn't believe it, that's a vehicle or one heck of a big screen tv. Of course some were 600 but not for much less. So when they say some plug in (screens)that is obviously to an outlet, not a TV. Well, there goes any hopes of big screen anything. I can't afford anything near those prices which would tally to 800 on the cheap end. I do have my dvd player run to my stereo, etc...but was looking for bigger than 27" screen. I had an old magnifying screen out of an older bigscreen TV and made a frame for it to set in front of my TV. At night with the lights out you couldn't even tell it had a frame, it was fairly inventive until my niece raked her fingernails down it. What about those put together or make your own big screens? The ones you set in front of your TV or the TV goes in a box inside and behind it? They sound more like a scam but, hey, never know.

I would suggest clicking on "TVs" on the home page of CNET, then click on price range up to $800, and if you click "Direct-view" (tube) TVs, there seems to be several of 32" size that have component inputs. These aren't flat-screen LCD or Plasma TVs, but a direct-view TV with component inputs will look great when hooked up to a DVD player that also has component outputs. Many of the TVs are also 16:9 (what you are thinking for HD). The Tube TVs may not give you true HD capability, but until you can afford a bit more, this may be a good alternative.
Thanks for the info. Just a month and a half ago I bought a Phillips 27 inch flat screen for 169 dollars on clearance, they were going for 423.00 so it was a fairly good deal. Eventually if I get something new, it will most likely have a huge screen. With 3 kids it's hard to save i'll tell ya. I was hoping to get a projector but to many issues. Most likely I will just wait to afford a nice big screen tv, one day.
