Windows XP: Day Display
Day Display
by scottydawg - 6/26/06 9:00 PMI have a computer running XP at my office and above the clock on my task bar it displays the day (so both the time and day show). I don't know how I got this feature to show up but would like to have on my home computer too. Any ideas?

I have never figured out how it got there or how to do it on another computer.

This procedure is fairly simple but it does require reasonably precise mouse handling. If you are new to computing and still developing your mouse-skills, expanding the taskbar, or returning it to the default height, may prove to be a little problematical. If you are not yet confident with fiddly mouse manipulation, I would suggest that you postpone using this tip until you gain more mousing experience.
Here's how to expand the taskbar:
The taskbar needs to be "unlocked" before you can expand it. To check, right-click the taskbar and ensure that "Lock the Taskbar" is not ticked. If there is a tick, click "Lock the Taskbar" to untick it.
Close any running programs so that the taskbar is uncluttered and easier to manipulate.
Move your mouse to the top edge of the taskbar until the cursor turns into a doubled-ended arrow.
With the doubled-ended arrow displayed, hold down the left mouse button and drag the taskbar upward until it is about twice the normal height.
The day and date should now be displayed below the Notification Area clock.
If desired, you can now re-lock the taskbar.

That's why it's so crazy to me that I can't replicate it. And it's just plain 'ol Windows XP I have running on the office computer. I will try and take a screen shot today.

I know system add-ons are generally frowned upon at work stations, but perhaps someone got this one through?
I've Googled "How to show time and day in the System Tray?" and found numerous hits, but they all seem to be related to system utilities you can download and install, and I cannot find any exisiting Operating System option to change the way the System Tray displays the clock otherwise.
My best bet would be that is what this is.

It happened without a utility, I just expanded the taskbar one day and then reduced it and that's what came up. Now for about 6 months I've tried to replicate it and can't. Glad everyone finds it as odd as me.

What you can do are these STEPS: XP
1)Go to Control Panel at Accessibility Options
2)Click the second Option CONFIGURE WINDOWS TO WORK FOR YOUR VISSION,HEARING & MOBILITY NEEDS
3)Accessibility Wizard wil appear and click Next
4)Click Next Again
5) Make a tick at last Option "Dissable personalized menus" and Next, Next, Next, Finish.
Now at your Computer will display only System time without a day.
But when I done that I try to return to time and day I found difficult.

Probably a text size setting or third party utility.
