More information is needed, such as version of MSN Messenger, which microphone you have (make/model, USB/audio in, etc), OS, etc. Does the mic work in other programs or is it just having a problem with MSN Messenger? Have you checked to make sure the mic isn't muted? Is it choppy or is there no audio at all when using the mic?
Let us know.

P.S. It's not wise to include your e-mail address in the open, as spammers will 'harvest' it and fill your inbox. It's better to write name[at)domain(dot]com, or better yet use the E-mail Member function available in your Cnet profile, which is completely anonymous. I have requested the admins to remove your e-mail address for this reason.
You will need to:
1. Get a USB mic or a mic that is advertised as a line level microphone.
2. Get a sound card with an internal mic preamp
3. Put a mic preamp between your sound card and your microphone.
A USB mic is the easiest option IMO.
You will then need to set things up in Messenger->Tools->Audio and Video settings
