Excel View Default

by cbc1920 - 6/23/06 4:11 PM

Whenever I open an older file using Excel 2003, it opens using the page break preview and zoom at 75%. I have to manaully change it to normal view. Anyone have any idea how to correct this to open from a normal view? Opening current files defaults to normal view fine.

After you've opened the older file and manually changed it to normal view, have you tried saving that file (to preserve that change) and then opening it again?

No, I haven't tried it yet. But I would hate for that to be the only way since there are probably fifty older files. If that has to be though, then it has to be...

Why, are all of the fifty files opening up in the same way?

Note that Excel stores the current view setting when you save the file. So the most likely reason why it was in Print Preview was because it was saved that way.

That's what I was wondering - why ALL files from older years are opening that way. I doubt that they were all saved in Page Break Preview, which is why I was hoping there is a setting I could change. This is for my boss that I'm asking. I'll just have to tell her there is no answer except to resave. Thanks!

That's no big deal, I would say. As long as you don't need the file, there's no need to do this. And if you need it, you have to open it anyway. So the extra work would be (only) to change the settings and File>Save. That doesn't seem prohibitive.
