WMP 11 is the best I've used to date.

by mustangj36 - 6/23/06 5:29 AM In reply to: Which music-player software do you primarily use (and why)? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Migrated and organized all my music seamlessly. It has a better layout than v10, especially the library. Makes it easier to see and select songs for play or sync. The album art feature is my favorite, I think. If there's no art on the net , it's very easy to add your own.
My only complaint is with Metaservices. There seems to be a lot of holes in their database. I've got a few albums that are in the database but each have one or two songs that aren't, so I had to edit those manually to get them integrate with the rest of the album. There are also unknown release dates and much missing album art. Microsoft should have a way for WMP users to submit this missing music information. I, for one, would be happy to help them update and correct their library.

metaservice

by MrMe003 - 6/25/06 3:18 AM In reply to: WMP 11 is the best I've used to date. by mustangj36

yep.. the "ms" is littlebit outdated like there isnt have a newest albums (even the top10 charts) also the genre is very simple (electronic, electronic dance even the music is acid/goa/trance....)

and that "same album problem" is very annoying.. there is a lots of a same album but differend release dates.. there is also these albums where dont have that last track but when you click again that find button then its showing you these others albums (same album but differend release date) and there is the album what you lookin for a first place... i just think why wmp dont first check how meany tracks that album is and then check first and last songname from filename or tag.. then it make a better match.

i have very big library a music so i need spend many hours to fix these albums by my self... but we need to remember that we use just a beta :)

Winamp

by ganilla - 6/23/06 5:36 AM In reply to: Which music-player software do you primarily use (and why)? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Winamp has provided yearsof development that has resulted in a player that comes up fast and clean!

Its skins are user developed allowing for vary uniqe looks and the basic player provides codecs that are current.

Its only drawback has been the video playback but it looks like the recent version has resolved most video problems.

Musicmatch and iTunes

by jorgelan - 6/23/06 6:30 AM In reply to: Which music-player software do you primarily use (and why)? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I have all major media players installed on my PC, MusicMatch, iTunes, Real Player, Winamp, and Windows Media Player 10.
I'm a Musicmatch user since the first times it came out, for its friendly interfase and the lookup tags function.
When I bought an iPod, I began to use iTunes and found it very easy to use, very comprehensive to organize my library (now consisting in 5000+ songs), so now I'm using MusicMatch for ripping and tagging, and iTunes for keeping my library organized and reproduce my music due to the quality of sound.
The best for sound quality? I think Real Player
For web based media: Winamp
Windows Media Player? useless!!

another player - Real Player Jukebox

by sharee100 - 6/23/06 6:36 AM In reply to: Which music-player software do you primarily use (and why)? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Right now I use WMP 10 because when I installed a new hard drive I couldn't get my Real Player Jukebox downloaded again. I purchased it from Real Player. It had lots of video goodies, such as a 3d clock with dancing figures for numbers. I miss that. I tried the plain Real Player. It invaded everything on my computer and was really difficult to remove.

iTunes by a mile

by Sid Gibson - 6/23/06 6:36 AM In reply to: Which music-player software do you primarily use (and why)? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I love my iPods (4 of them) and iTunes is obviously the most compatible music player. I love the auto management of my library, the party shuffle, the auto update to my iPods and its tie in with iTunes Music. Tried Winamp (sucks) and the worse, Media Player (sucks more). When I settled in with iTunes and became familiar with all its options, I never looked back and doubt I ever will again.

iTunes was the best I could find

by terrijoadams - 6/25/06 5:28 PM In reply to: iTunes by a mile by Sid Gibson

Had Windows Media Player on my computer, but found the functionality terrible and is set up to try and play all sorts of media, when I mainly want music! And like most microsoft programs they try to do lots of things, rather than one thing really good.

Musicmatch was okay but that was before I found iTunes. Lots simpler than musicmatch, so easy to make playlists and can make very cool custom ones. The party shuffle is excellent, the rating is good and the just the overall functionality. It is designed for music and definitely delievers.

PS: tried winamp too, but again, not as simple and no where near the functionality of iTunes.

Answer to question about music software.

by wpeckham - 6/23/06 6:37 AM In reply to: Which music-player software do you primarily use (and why)? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I use Foobar2000 from http://www.foobar2000.org/. It is light, fast, and does everything I want without the massive load or vendor lockin implied by all of those other options.

which music player software do I primarily use and why

by jtynoble - 6/23/06 6:45 AM In reply to: Which music-player software do you primarily use (and why)? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

which music player software do I primarily use and why?

I use Itunes and I use Windows media player and have used music match in the past.

Why?
The reason I use Windows media player is because it came with XP Media Center Operating system software installed on the gateway computer I purchased this year 2006.

I prefer Itunes over them all for its ease of use with its music settings and most importantly the sound quality it offers.

Thank You.
