17" LCDs are perfect....
I have a 17-inch MAG CRT.
I use a samsung 56in DLP TV as a monitor. The picture is FANTASTIC and have no problems at all. It's great to sit in a recliner with a wireless mouse & keyboard and play games or surf the web. I cloned the output and have a 19" LCD too but only use it for work (sometimes hard to type in a recliner)
My wife, who reluctantly went along with the purchase, loves it as much as I do. Its future probably includes some testing as an HD Television. HDTV runs throughout the house and there is a floating HD receiver (bought for $50) to pass the signal through the GEM's aux plug which is a male MIDI or HDMI plug - not sure.
In planning stage is the addition or replacement in the AGP slot with an HDTV vidio card with its auxiliary software which allows tivo-like HDTV recording.
Also, the phased-out 17in flat-screen monitor(s) might be used here and on other computers in the house as second monitors. This setup has been used previously with the bulky sets, but it absorbed too much desk landscape; in spite of the many advantages it was undone.

This topic has good and bad point of views.
The way we view our TV and pc monitors differ basically due to screen size and visual concepts.
Today's PC Monitors best overall visual quality still
comes from CRT's (prefer Flat Screen CRT).
The main contributing disadvantage of a CRT is its weight and size/occupation space. Otherwise there is little to no reason to use a CRT.
Until the manufacturers set a Standard on their Performance Tests and Specifications to an Universal agreement. Then also start producing high qaulity grade
Resolution and Color with fast Response Times that is better than a CRT, only then will I Purchase a LCD
or Plasma for my monitor.
I currently use the Samsung SyncMaster 997DF an Flat Screen 19 inch CRT.
Upgraded for space...got more than expected. Went from 15" CRT to 17" LCD and what a difference in space and I feel a better quality picture.
I use a Gateway 19-inch LCD TV/computer monitor.
I use a Captain Midnight Ring.
The thing is incredible. Sure beats your average cell phone.
Has a global positioning satellite built in also. Years ahead of its time.
Secret messages and no one can break the code. The monitor is awesome for its small size.
In my studio I have a Viewsonic LCD 20-1/2 inch monitor.
Has a link to my ring so I can view my OS. Neat!!
What a great ring.
Anyone have a Captain Midnight ring?
Send me a secret coded message.
