I have cingular and was thinking of getting their PTT but didnt like the phones , they only have 4 , I did some poking around and found that Nokia has about a dozen Ptt COMPATIBLE phones for Gsm , biut the same phones on the Cingular site dont carry that feature .
1. It's turned on by paying for it.
2. It doesn't work on their network.
3. There could be a patent dispute.
and more...
Or in the case of Verizon Wireless, they disable most of the bluetooth features in order to force people to use Get it Now to retrieve stuff off their phones. For certain phones though, people have been able to hack the bluetooth (primarily Motorola phones, even with the VZW UI) to use it to its full potential. Some people have gone as far as to flash their phones to the manufacturers UI, customized for one of VZW's competitors. Example being the Motorola Razr V3c, being flashed with the Alltel Motorola UI, just so people can have full bluetooth & the manufacturer's UI.
How do I do that? I want my phone to vibe and ring!
