You want a full keyboard?? Verizon does not have anything brand spanking new that nobody hasn't seen...Most verizon phones have what you're lookin for. try the motorola q or the lg vx9800

...Their screens are worthless and the camera is only so-so but as a phone (let's not lose sight of what these things are, after all) the Razr's are champs. They hang onto calls with virtually no signal strength and never, ever drop a call. Call quality is simply superb and the battery life is pretty incredible from such a slim design.

Just because you have owned 2 of these pieces of junk and had no trouble with them doesn't mean the rest of us had the same experience. Since May 8th I've had 2. The first one would hold a charge for about 4 hours. The second one that I have now holds a charge for about 8 hours. Therefore when I am not on the phone it is always being charged. This is hardly convenient. Also, it drops calls.
My boyfriend got his razr (from Verizon) in February. His first one had an inside screen that never lit up AND his wouldn't hold a charge either. I also traded in his razr and got another piece of junk. These phones do drop calls. The speakerphone on these phones are terrible. I can't use mine because every time I try to the person I am speaking to can't hear me.
Let's face it, if these phones are so great why is Verizon giving them away? I know that these phones are not meant to last a lifetime and are quickly recycled or trashed BUT I at least expect basic service from them. Since 1994 I have had Moto phones except for the one before the razrs. I think Moto generally manufactures good cell phones. When I had to make the 2 trips back to the store to exchange our first razrs I was by no means the only person in line with razr problems. To me that speaks volumes. On my second visit to return my phone the lady at the counter told me that they had had a lot of problems with razrs. I found her statement easy to believe since that day I was getting my 4th razr. I stand behind my earlier comment: They are JUNK!!!

Would you believe that I was on the phone with Verizon this evening about this phone again? I have had it in the charger since Friday and it has never said charge complete. I received a call this afternoon where I talked about 20 minutes. When I ended the call the phone showed 2 bars.

I certainly believe that you like your razr just fine. However, based on my experience with them I think that Motorola has a problem. This is the first time I have ever had a problem with a Moto.

I hope that your phone continues to work for you. Maybe my third razr will hold a charge. I hope so. Good Luck.

Regarding the phone never saying "Charge Complete." I had the same frustration initially until I realized that the phone had to be off before plugging it in for it to read "Charge Complete" when it's fully charged. Otherwise, if left on while charging, it just continues to read "Charging Battery" (or something like that) and will never indicate that it is "complete." Now, with that said, it still seems odd that after all that you still had only two bars of battery strength indicated.
I'd return the phone and try again. Maybe next time will be a charm. My partner has four Razr V3c's (his, his wife's and two sons) and they all perform flawlessly. Mine is the "next generation" V3m but I don't suspect this should make too much of a difference. Which one do you have?

Good luck.

battery?

Perhaps it's just a bad battery?

Good point.

A simple battery switch, a full charge and a day or two of normal use should clear that right up. I find with my Razr V3m (better power management than the V3c resulting in vastly improved talk and standby time) that a full charge lasts about two days of normal use. Keep in mind that I have the Bluetooth turned on all the time to link with my car and that uses a fair amount of energy I'm told.

Hi Doc:

After another 56 mile round trip to the Verizon store today the lady in the tech department suggested that I try a new battery. It took some convincing but eventually I relented. My phone is now on the charger (and I'm going to turn it off like you said). By the way I have the V3c.

When I arrived back home I called Verizon and asked for the info for their Chairman. As you can imagine they wanted me to go through the proper channels for customer service and I told them that I had tried that twice and I wanted the Chairman of the company. Eventually I got the info for him in N. Jersey.

I'll give it a week. If this phone doesn't work with the new battery I will contact Mr. Lowell McAdam's office in Basking Ridge, NJ. I did ask the lady if I could have a new model of phone and she said "no", as I had passed my 15 day window. From my 21 years of airline customer service experience I know that if you go high enough in the company you can get whatever you want. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

...You are absolutely correct here. If you are unable to get satisfactory service from three consecutive phones it seems to me only logical and reasonable that you should be entitled to a no cost upgrade/switch (to the newer V3m perhaps unless you are totally soured on the Razr's by now...which I couldn't blame you for after what you've been through).

I had a not terribly different issue a while back and was finally able to get through to a positively wonderful customer service rep who straightened out the whole thing. If you'd like to email me, I'd be happy to share her name and phone number with you. If she's still working there I'm certain she'd be happy to resolve your problem satisfactorily.

RAZR V3m charge sucks, too.

by laurav8_2000 - 5/29/07 9:57 PM In reply to: Hi Doc: by e.yau

My husband and I both have the V3m and are having problems with the charge. He exchanged his and the new one still has the problem. We even contacted Motorola and they sent us some new batteries that were fatter and new covers (the phone don't look as sleek and nice now) and he is still having a problem with his charge. Mine holds a little better, but not as long as they state and we only use them as phones and w/out bluetooth. I think there is something wrong inside the phone. So stay away from this model, also.
