My camera stopped working completely. GR-D90u

by Dr.Bot - 12/9/05 8:25 AM In reply to: JVC will repair at no charge until Oct 2007 by markcr

One day it was fine, the next day it wouldn't turn on.
The battery seem to accept a charge, the adapter is putting out the correct voltage. But no idication of any power getting to anything. I have cheked to see that power is actually getting to the main circuit board so what are my options. The camera is out of warranty. So far everyone I talked to says to throw it out and but another. I paid almost 600 bucks, and I don't think $300 to try to fix it is a good option.

Suggestions?

Internal fuses

by jbs138 - 12/9/05 11:43 AM In reply to: My camera stopped working completely. GR-D90u by Dr.Bot

Have you slid the cover off and checked the three internal fuses, as what you are reporting would suggest one of them has gone. The main fuse that feeds the other two is marked F6001.

Internal fuses - Further to..

by jbs138 - 12/10/05 1:40 AM In reply to: Internal fuses by jbs138

Just to clarify a point, my suggestion to check the internal fuses was based on it being reported that nothing worked at all, "not" that you just couldnt see anything through the viewfinder or LCD, which if the latter "does" apply, then it will be the dreaded lens cap problem. (with free repair)

Same problem with an gr-d 225

by pellie01 - 12/23/06 12:12 PM In reply to: FUSE LOCATION AND CASE DISMANTLE?? by jackXLT

I have the samen problem with an 18 months old gr-d 225.
Just for christmas i couldn't contact any service station.
When possible i would like to repair is soon.
I could be warrenty, but if it isn't i won't spend to much money on it. The "lens cap" issue was repaired a few months ago on warrenty.
10 days ago kopied the tape to may recorder en taped some new stuff.
Battery was half full and spare battery was full.
Today battrery went empty, could charge. Tested with spare battery, went good for a few seconds. Now every thing is dead.
Every help is usefull en probebly better then spending money on repair when it is not sure it won't happen again.

Is lens cap message in view finder related to internal fuses

by Lynnette Martin - 8/16/06 7:01 PM In reply to: GD90 Internal fuses. by jbs138

I borrowed my brothers camcorder and I need to return it a.s.a.p. and I am getting this message and find it to be non functional. I am trying to trouble shoot, as I have very little money to invest in a lost cause. I don't really want to buy a new camcorder for him, if possible. If any one can give me some direction on possible trouble shooting or repair, I would really appreciate it. 8-16-2006

Lynnette

I have had the same power issue with my JVC camcorder. Would you be able to send me the info on how to locate the fuses. I will need to attempt this on my own as my warranty has expired.

Fuse location and access

by ScottFTL - 2/26/06 2:57 PM In reply to: Internal fuses by jbs138

I am experiencing the same issue. Can you provide details/diagrams on accessing and replacing this fuse? My email address is paulcullin@hotmail.com. Thanks! PS: looks like compusa.com has this fuse for sale for about $5. Much better than spending almost $200 at the nearest JVC authorized repair center!

(NT) JVC GR-SXM240U camcorder

by Muntdrop - 6/17/06 11:49 PM In reply to: Fuse location and access by ScottFTL

My camcorder does not come on at all. I purchased it used and they said it was working but the camera doesn't come on at all. The battery is good because I had it checked. I figured it had to be something electrical. Where is your fuse and access. I would like to know. Thanks!
