Say hello to CNET TV Beta!

by mollywood CNET staff - 6/14/06 5:03 PM

Heya --

If you feel like watching a little video, check out our newest product, CNET TV Beta. It's the new home for all CNET video, and we'll be working on new shows that will ONLY live there. Don't worry -- we're working on the podcast channel now.

Love to know what you think! I've been really involved with this project, so be honest. :) There's also a forum here, which is probably the best place to direct your thoughts.

Question

by MacHugger - 6/14/06 5:50 PM In reply to: Say hello to CNET TV Beta! by mollywood CNET staff

How long do you plan on keeping the name ''Beta'' on there? You know, given that poor Google is usually the recipient of grief on this issue :p

I think I'm really going to like this site. I hope it stays current and gets a refresh of new content every week.

Popular content may hang out in the playlist for a few days but it will get a refresh every weekday.

Some things that could make the service even better will be RSS Feeds, ability to bookmark videos or permalinks, "No Registration" for watching videos and "Save Video" links to download videos and watch them offline.

good ideas

by earlysound - 6/16/06 8:01 AM In reply to: Looks wonderful .. but want something more by amitpagarwal

it's only behind registration now because it's in beta, it'll be open to everyone once we get the kinks worked out.

Pause to download.

by AndyInTN - 6/17/06 12:15 PM In reply to: Looks wonderful .. but want something more by amitpagarwal

I wish there was a way I could pause the video and let it download so I could play it back without it being so choppy.

Post 12 of 20

Yes, it is choppy

Perhaps C|Net Video could benefit from a higher level of delivery service that assures a lower level of latency?

Hmmmmm.

(NT) Flash Player 8 required, rules out Linux users

by JoshHendo - 6/17/06 6:51 PM In reply to: Say hello to CNET TV Beta! by mollywood CNET staff

Yup, unfortunately.

I think its a conspiracy. LOL, I'm joking by the way. I wish Macro...excuse me, Adobe would get their act together and release Flash Player 8 for Linux and the sound had better work in Firefox!

Re: The podcast channel

by barret55 - 6/19/06 7:30 AM In reply to: Say hello to CNET TV Beta! by mollywood CNET staff

Does this mean that my idea of having a central CNet podcast channel is in the works, so I can use iTunes to subscribe to one podcast channel and get all of CNet's podcast goodness?

Hope so!

*getting giddy*
